🐾Small Object, BIG Problem!🐾
You never know what your pet might decide looks like a tasty snack! 🫣
Today our veterinary team performed a foreign body surgery to remove this piece of foam, similar to the material of a yoga mat, from a patients digestive tract!
While something as soft and lightweight as foam may seem harmless, swallowing objects that aren't meant to be eaten can have serious, even life-threatening consequences.
🚨Foreign bodies can cause:
- Intestinal blockages
- Vomiting and loss of appetite
- Abdominal pain and discomfort
- Damage to the stomach or intestines
- Emergency surgery and, in severe cases, death
🐱🐶 Prevention is key!
Pets explore the world with their mouths, and sometimes curiousity gets the better of them! Keep small objects such as foam, yoga mats, children's toys, hair ties, socks, and other tempting items safely out of reach.
💕Remember: Just because something is soft, small, or seemingly harmless, doesn't mean it's safe for your pet to swallow!
If you suspect your pet has swallowed something they shouldn't have, contact your veterinarian immediately. Don't wait for symptoms to appear!
