We have a few spots left in our upcoming Equine Health and Emergency First Aid Course on August 1st! This course is being hosted at New Beginnings Equine Stables in Omemee.

Course fee is $159 per person, this includes lecture and hands on practical learning! You will receive an emergency hand book, groom kit vitals chart, and certification at the end of the course.

This course qualifies for Continuing Education Hours.

Wildfire smoke is back and affecting large parts of Ontario. What does this mean for our horses exercise, and care?

It is important to check the AQI for your area to know if it is safe to work your horse and at what level. Each horse may respond to smoke pollution differently, just like humans. Is your horse a conditioned athlete? Is your horse older? Does your horse have heaves or COPD? You may choose to change your horses exercise based on their condition, age, and any other health conditions they may have. You may choose to take exercise out of the picture all together depending on your area’s air quality, or modify turn out for horses with pre-existing health conditions. It is important to know your horse and mitigate any issues that may arise by monitoring air quality this summer.
