Your dog can absolutely be part of your wedding day. You just shouldn’t have to spend your wedding day worrying about them. 🤍🐾

And neither should one of your guests.

Asking a friend or family member to be “in charge of the dog” might sound like an easy solution, but they’re there to celebrate with you too. They shouldn’t have to miss cocktail hour because your dog needs a walk, leave the ceremony early because they’re getting restless, or spend the day watching a leash instead of watching you get married.

That’s where we come in.

Our team of professional pet care providers handles the walks, bathroom breaks, meals, water, medications, transportation, getting wedding-ready, vendor coordination, photos, ceremony logistics and everything in between.

But one of the most important parts of our job is something you might not even see.

We’re trained to read canine body language and cues so we can recognize when your dog is comfortable, excited, overwhelmed, tired or simply ready for a break. We can adjust their day accordingly and advocate for what they need, even when the wedding timeline says something different.

Because sometimes the best thing we can do is get your dog into position for that perfect photo.

And sometimes it’s saying, “They’ve had enough. Let’s give them a break.”

That peace of mind is a huge part of what you’re actually hiring us for.

Your dog gets a dedicated professional looking out for them. Your guests get to be guests. And you get to be fully present on your wedding day knowing your best friend is in very good hands. 🤍

Some wedding assignments just feel meant to be. 🤎

Sweet Lilo joined her parents for their wedding last weekend and was an absolute SUPER girl. She posed like a pro for photos, participated in the ceremony and made sure everyone knew she was a very important member of the wedding party.

And we couldn’t have picked a better handler for her. Our resident Lab lover Cheryl was on duty and was VERY excited when she saw “chocolate Lab” on her schedule. 😂 Safe to say these two were a perfect match.

Another wedding day made better by including the dog. 🤎🐾

A day in the life of a very important wedding guest. 🐾🤍

Earlier this summer, Tavi joined her parents for their wedding at Northridge Inn, and she truly got the full wedding experience.

A little grooming to get wedding-ready, some cuddles with mom while she was getting ready, a front row seat to watch her parents say “I do,” and obviously an appearance in the wedding photos. 📸

And because being a wedding guest is exhausting work, there were plenty of breaks, cuddles and downtime mixed in before Tavi headed back to her cabin to relax for the rest of the night. Honestly, the ideal wedding guest experience. 😂

This is what having a wedding dog chaperone is all about. Tavi got to be there for the moments that mattered, while still having someone dedicated to her care, comfort and needs throughout the day. 🤍

There have absolutely been days I’ve wondered if this is worth it. Days I’ve thought about quitting. Days where bookings were slower than I wanted, something went wrong, I made a mistake, or I wondered whether this weird little idea had reached its ceiling.

Thank goodness I kept going.

Because we wouldn’t be breaking our own booking records if I’d quit on one of those days.

We wouldn’t have built the team we have. We wouldn’t be working with some of the venues and vendors I used to dream about. And we definitely wouldn’t be getting invited into some of the really cool spaces and events outside of weddings that we’re starting to step into now.

Some of those opportunities only exist because I was delusional enough to think, “Why couldn’t Royal Paws be there?” and then consistently pitched, followed up and put our name in the room until eventually the answer was yes. 😂

I think that’s one of the strangest things about building a business. Sometimes the gap between “this is probably ridiculous” and “holy s**t, we actually did it” is just continuing to show up.

So yes, there are still hard days. There are still lonely days. There are still moments when I question what the hell I’m doing.

But there are also more and more moments where I get to look around and realize we’re building something bigger than I originally imagined.

Turns out a little delusion and a lot of persistence can get you pretty far. 🤍

Luna + Willow are the family dogs, so having them there for family photos at Belcroft Estate just made sense. They got to visit with their people, give the bride a few kisses, pose for some very important family photos and be included without needing to spend the entire day at the venue.

This is one of our favourite ways to include dogs who may not need a role in the ceremony or cocktail hour. We can bring them in for the moments that matter, make sure they’re comfortable and cared for, and then get them home once their job is done.

Because when you’re taking family photos, the family dogs belong in them too. 🥹🤍

Hudson + Remi had a very important Friday. 🤍🐾

Hudson and his sister Remi joined their parents’ wedding at Royal Ashburn Golf Club, with Katie + Nicole there to make sure their day ran just as smoothly as everyone else’s.

They got dressed up, joined in for photos, watched their parents get married and soaked up plenty of attention before heading home to relax for the rest of the night. Basically, attend the best parts of the wedding and leave before the party gets too loud. Honestly, ideal. 😂

And because our job doesn’t technically end with the wedding dogs, yes, we made sure the cats got their dinner too. 🐱

A huge thank you to their photographer Heather Heather Windsor Photography for sending this sweet family our way! Referrals from fellow wedding vendors always mean so much to us. 🤍

WEDDING DOG OF THE WEEK: AUGGY

Meet Auggy, a 3-year-old Cavapoo who had a very important role at his parents’ wedding at Georgian Peaks Ski Club. 🤍

Auggy is happiest when he’s with his mom and dad, so getting to be part of their wedding day was pretty much his dream come true. He joined them for photos, kept a close eye on everything happening throughout the day, soaked up plenty of attention and even managed to squeeze in a little nap between his official wedding duties. 😂

And while the weather kept us checking the forecast approximately every five minutes, Auggy could not have cared less. He was just happy to have a front row seat to his favourite people getting married.

This is exactly why we love being wedding dog chaperones. Auggy got to experience the parts of the wedding that made sense for him, while still having someone dedicated entirely to his care, comfort and routine throughout the day.

10/10 wedding guest. Excellent napper. Would chaperone again. 🐾🤍

The fit: 🤵🏻🐶

In Reuben’s defence, if you’re going to show up to your parents’ wedding, you might as well be the best dressed guest there. 😂

And yes, he knew he looked good.

Yogi had big feelings about wedding day… and he was not afraid to share them. 😂🤍

This sweet senior beagle joined us for a full 14 hours of care on Friday, giving his parents the freedom to enjoy their wedding knowing he was safe, comfortable and sticking to his normal routine, including meals, medication and plenty of time to decompress.

Because Yogi can be reactive, his role in the actual wedding festivities was kept intentionally small. He joined his parents for some photos close to the house, then headed back to his own space where he could settle in without the pressure of a busy wedding environment.

And settle in he did. 🥹 It took some time (and some very vocal beagle opinions 😂), but Jocelyn worked at Yogi’s pace and eventually won him over.

Including your dog in your wedding doesn’t always mean having them at the ceremony or cocktail hour. Sometimes it means a few special photos and making sure they’re cared for behind the scenes for the rest of the day. 🤍
