Last weekend was Ottawa Ontario Groom Show’s very first show and I was thoroughly impressed with the organization and ex*****on! I can’t imagine how much work went into pulling it off but I know how glad we groomers are to have another opportunity to network and learn; thank you Alex & Kayla!!

In the ring, I only made it to Poodle class and groomed my own boy, Bevel. He was a rockstar despite me not rocking his trim that day. Still, I’m proud of simply doing it as it’s a challenge each time (skill-wise and mentally) and most of all, I feel closer to my poodle 🐩

Congrats to the winners — all the grooms were gorgeous!

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending SHEEP SHEARING SCHOOL!! It was humbling as heck and left me totally in awe of professional shearers’ abilities and endurance.

The whole experience was amazing from the sheep, to the dogs (both Livestock Guardian and Herding dogs), to the awesome group of supportive people I’m glad to have learned alongside.

A big thank you to the instructors Peter, Ruco, and Tom, for your patience and sharing your knowledge of your craft. It’s truly appreciated! And I’m so grateful to our hosts, Ellen and Dean, who welcomed us to stay and spoiled us incredible meals, and most importantly, entrusted us with their sheep.

Hopefully this will be just the beginning of working with sheep and other livestock.

This is happening on Saturday! If you don’t have access to a regular veterinarian, this is a great opportunity to protect your pet (and the public as a whole) and meet Ontario’s Rabies immunization requirements for dogs and cats.

Low-cost vaccination clinic Sat, June 17 from 10-2 at the Township of Faraday Public Works garage. $35 per pet, cash only. Vaccines for dogs and cats. Dogs must be leashed, cats must be in a carrier.
