Dr. Bill Hanson and Dr. Don Mclean are licensed veterinarians with over 60 years combined experience treating cats and dogs. Aurora Animal Clinic is a full service animal hospital and can accomodate both emergency cases as well as less urgent medical, surgical, and dental issues. Spooky season is upon us!

This is a cautionary tale that was scary for the pups involved!

While out for a walk in woods, Trudy and her brother ran off thinking they had found a fun woodland creature to play with!

Unfortunately their new friend was a porcupine covered in sharp quills!

Both dogs were quilled in the face and inside the mouth. They were sedated and the quills were carefully removed one by one.

Trudy had a total of 67 quills removed, luckily for her brother, he did not have as many.

You never know who is lurking in the forest!

Be safe, keep your dogs on leash, especially if they are known to chase wildlife.

Both dogs are feeling much better and have a scary story for Halloween season to tell their friends. 😱🫣

One aspect of responsible pet ownership is having your pet spayed or neutered.

Not only are you helping to control pet overpopulation, but spaying and neutering can also help eliminate or significantly reduce the risk of developing certain health and behaviour issues.

As every patient is an individual we will recommend the best time to spay or neuter your pet based on their breed and lifestyle.

INVENTORY COUNT 💊

We will be doing our annual inventory count on Sept 30, 2026.

The clinic will be closed early that day at 2:00pm.

The final day to place an order for food/medication this week is Friday Sept 25th by noon.

Regular orders will resume Thursday October 1, 2026.
