Save this post for the day you may be overwhelmed and need some expert tips on how to care for your pup after a skunk has sprayed them!

The first thing to remember is to take a deep breath. Try not to get angry at your dog. They were probably scared from the entire incident and need your comfort (and cleaning!).
It's important to keep your dog outside until you can clean them thoroughly.
Skunk spray can be harmful to your dog's eyes and can cause irritation.
Mix together a solution of 1 quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup of baking soda, and 1-2 teaspoons of dish soap. This solution will help to neutralize the skunk spray odor. Make sure to wear gloves to protect your skin, and avoid getting the solution in your dog's eyes or mouth.
Apply the solution to your dog's coat, being careful to avoid the face, eyes, and ears. Work the solution into your dog's fur, making sure to get it down to the skin. Let the solution sit for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water. Repeat the process until the skunk odor is no longer present.
After the skunk odor is gone, give your dog a thorough bath with a dog-specific shampoo to remove any remaining residue from the hydrogen peroxide solution. It's also a good idea to wash their bedding and anything else they may have come into contact with.
Getting sprayed by a skunk is never fun, but with the right approach, your pup can be smelling fresh again in no time. Remember to stay calm and take the necessary steps to ensure your dog's health and comfort.

If your dog is completely covered in mud, the first thing you should do is keep calm and avoid getting frustrated. Dogs can sense their owners' emotions, and getting angry or upset will only make the situation worse. Instead, take a deep breath and follow these steps:

Contain your dog: If your dog is still outside, bring them inside or contain them in a small area, such as a bathroom or laundry room. This will prevent them from tracking mud throughout your home.

Assess the situation: Check your dog's eyes, ears, nose, and mouth for any signs of mud or debris. If you notice any, gently wipe them clean with a damp cloth.

Rinse your dog: Use lukewarm water and a gentle dog shampoo to rinse your dog's coat. Start at their head and work your way down, being careful not to get water in their ears. If your dog is particularly muddy, you may need to rinse them multiple times.

Dry your dog: Use a clean towel to dry your dog's coat thoroughly. If your dog has long hair, you may also want to use a blow dryer on the lowest setting to prevent matting.

Reward your dog: Once your dog is clean and dry, give them a treat or a favourite toy to show them that they did a good job.

Keeping pups happy during their spa day with treats and training!
We use positive reinforcement techniques to reward your dog for good behaviour during grooming. We encourage you to give your dog treats and praise for allowing you to brush, trim, or clip their fur. Also, taking frequent breaks to give your dog a chance to rest and relax will help them become more comfortable with being groomed.

Dogs are beloved pets all around the world and grooming them is an important part of their care. Explore grooming traditions and styles from different countries and cultures.
