For us humans venturing out into the world beyond our home is something we do for hours on end and multiple times a day.
For our dogs this might only happen once a day for under an hour time.
And yet we still wonder why the world outside our home is overly interesting or scary for our dogs.
For them it could feel like stepping into a different country every time. Now imagine having to learn the native language and culture on the fly with zero prep work.
Doesn’t seem so easy now.
This is why it’s best to practice skills in varying levels of distracting environments instead of pushing our dogs into the deep end.
