Milo is home 😻 *GRAPHIC WARNING*

His leg amputation was a success thanks to Dr. Tracey and Trinity Veterinary Care; it ended up being a full leg amputation due to the infection that had set in from his mangled paw.

He is home and resting and is truly a sweet and friendly boy who the vet estimates at 1.5 years old. Aside from the amputation, he is in good health and has good teeth except for one broken one.
We are working on coordinating his foster arrangements so he can have a quiet place for recovery.

We want to thank everyone who has donated towards Milo’s care for your kindness and generosity. This intake came at a significant expense (estimated balance can be found in the comments) but Milo deserved a pain free life.

If you’re interested in donating, there are two ways:

1/ e-transfer sent to [email protected] with the memo Milo (a receipt can be provided for donations of 20$ or more; please provide mailing/email address)

2/ contact Trinity Veterinary Care directly at 623-823-3444 and mention that you’d like to donate towards Milo’s leg amputation and they will get you set up.

⚠️ TRIGGER/GRAPHIC WARNING ⚠️

We urgently need your help, fosters and donations are both paramount right now!

Milo is only about one year old and should be enjoying life as a carefree young cat. Instead, he was found in L’Orignal , thanks to Pat Bracelin for bringing this to our attention!

He is suffering from one of the more horrific injuries we have seen. Somehow, his paw became trapped in some sort of metal contraption similar to the one posted, causing devastating damage. The skin and tissue on his paw were torn away, leaving bone exposed.

Tomorrow, Milo will undergo surgery to have his foot amputated. He will also be neutered while under anesthesia. Thank you Dr Tracey from Trinity Veterinary Care for your dedication and gentleness with these kitties.

It is heartbreaking to imagine the immense pain and suffering this sweet boy endured before he was finally brought to safety. He has been given a pain medication injection, antibiotics and will need a foster to recover after his neuter and surgery, and to decompress from his trauma.

As if Milo’s emergency wasn’t enough, we currently have 10–15 new intakes that have recently come into our care. Kittens and mommas, feral boys.
The need has never been greater.

Now is the time for our community to come together.

We urgently need:
🐾 Donations to help cover Milo’s surgery and the growing veterinary expenses of our newest intakes.
🐾 Fosters willing to open their homes and hearts to animals in need.
🐾 Supporters willing to share our posts and help spread the word.

Kittens galore 😻

In the past couple of weeks, we’ve had 11 kitten intakes (on top of mommas and other cats in need). Look at their little faces!

These kittens are hungry babies and while can eat soft food, their diets also include KMR which we are in short supply of with the influx of kittens!

FOSTERS NEEDED

🚨 KITTEN SEASON IS HERE! 🚨

And our sanctuaries have filled back up fast.

We are urgently looking for additional fosters to join our team and help welcome some of our newest intakes. Not pictured is momma cat of these SIX babies (approximately 4–5 weeks old) that we picked up in Cornwall today, who will also need a safe space to land.

✨ What do you need to become a foster?

🏠 A quarantine space (spare bedroom, office, or large bathroom)
❤️ A big heart
😸 A little bit of love and patience

That’s it!

We provide the food, litter, supplies, veterinary care, and support. You provide a temporary home where these little ones can feel safe, loved, and warm while they wait for their forever families.

Kitten season is one of the busiest times of the year for rescues. Every day, we & every other rescue within the Ottawa region receive requests to help cats and kittens in need. Without foster homes, we simply cannot say “yes” to new intakes.

Registration is open for our upcoming Spay/Neuter Uber trip on July 14th, in partnership with Pet Valu Arnprior!

In order to help extend the accessibility of more affordable spay/neuter care to more people in our community, we are happy to have TWO official drop off/pick up locations for our July & August trips:

1/ Pet Valu Arnprior (3 Arthur St)
&
2/ Pet Valu Carleton Place (39 Lansdowne Ave)
