Innovation and compassion go hand in hand in this Medicine Monday throwback from September 1960! 🛠️❤️

The attached article features Tippy, a resilient four-month-old Beagle who suffered severe injuries, including fractured hind legs and a broken pelvis. Thanks to the groundbreaking work of Dr. G. J. Heath at the Kawartha Veterinary Hospital, Tippy underwent a rare intramedullary pinning operation.
To help Tippy stay active during recovery, Tippy’s dedicated owners built him a custom four-wheeled cart—showing that veterinary medicine and deep family devotion have always made miracles happen.

Decades later, our mission remains exactly the same: finding creative, compassionate ways to get our beloved patients back on their feet.

Thank you to Dr. Heath’s son for sharing this with us!
