🐾💙 October is Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) Month! 💙🐾
All month long, we’re celebrating the incredible RVTs who are such an important part of our veterinary team!
When you visit our clinic, you may see an RVT bring your pet into an exam room, collect a sample, or help your veterinarian—but that’s only a small glimpse of what they do. So much of an RVT’s work happens behind the scenes.
🩺 On any given day, our RVTs may be:
🐾 Monitoring patients under anesthesia during surgery and dental procedures
💉 Placing IV catheters and administering medications and treatments
🩸 Collecting blood and running laboratory tests
🦷 Taking dental X-rays and assisting with dental procedures
📸 Taking and positioning patients for X-rays
❤️ Monitoring hospitalized and recovering patients
🔬 Examining samples under the microscope and performing diagnostic testing
🩹 Providing wound care and changing bandages
📋 Preparing patients for surgery and monitoring them throughout recovery
☎️ Helping triage urgent and emergency cases
🐶 Providing comfort and reassurance to nervous or frightened patients
👩⚕️ Educating pet owners about medications, nutrition, recovery and ongoing care
🧹 Cleaning, disinfecting, stocking and preparing equipment so everything is ready for the next patient
🚨 Assisting veterinarians during emergencies—often when every second counts
RVTs are highly trained veterinary professionals who combine medical knowledge, technical skills, compassion and a whole lot of multitasking every single day.
They are often the ones quietly watching a patient’s vital signs during surgery, comforting a pet as they wake up from anesthesia, double-checking medications, running that important blood test, or giving an extra cuddle when a patient is scared. ❤️
They are nurses, anesthetists, laboratory technicians, dental technicians, radiology assistants, patient advocates, educators—and so much more.
