A pet’s palette is not as discerning as you would hope. What’s the weirdest thing your pet has tried to eat? 😳And if they succeed…give us a call so we can help!

Not all cats like to snuggle, much to our disappointment. When approaching your cat, it is best to let them make the first move. Imagine a giant is approaching you, and you’ll know how your cat feels. To feel less intimidating, try inviting your cat into your space instead of moving into theirs. As obligate carnivores, cats didn't need to develop a taste for carbohydrates. When they taste something sugary sweet, it doesn't come across as sweet in the way we would detect it with our taste buds.

Whisker Wisdoms Parasites - Although not as common, Hookworms and Whipworms are still a concern in our Feline Family Members

Hookworms

Hookworms are small parasites that attach to the intestinal lining in cats, feeding on blood. They can cause anemia, especially in kittens or weakened cats.
Cats get hookworms by ingesting larvae from contaminated soil or f***s, or through skin contact. Symptoms include weight loss, diarrhea, and a poor coat. Severe cases may show pale gums due to anemia.

Whipworms

Whipworms are slender parasites in the large intestine, causing irritation. Less common in cats, they still pose a risk.
Infections occur when cats ingest eggs from contaminated soil, food, or water. Symptoms include chronic diarrhea and weight loss, though many cats show no symptoms.

Prevent hookworms and whipworms with routine vet care and deworming. Keep the living area clean to reduce risk. Consult your vet for concerns and treatment options.

Spring garden check! 🌷🐱

Did you know tulips are actually toxic to cats? Before your curious kitty goes exploring this May, it's worth knowing which common garden flowers can be harmful.

Tulips, daffodils, and lilies are all on the watch list. 🌿

When you set up the litter box, make sure it truly is cat-friendly. So many times during consultations I would see set-ups that were designed for client appeal (meaning located in the most remote spot, too small for the cat, and rarely scooped). The litter box is such an important aspect of your cat's daily life and health, so be sure it measures up.
