WHY IS THERE A MANDATORY DONATION FOR TOURS?

These seasonal tours and events are what help to pay for hay, straw, feed, bedding and medical care all year long. They’re essentially mini fundraisers.

We all work as volunteers on the animals’ behalf, doing prep work and arranging our schedules around these tours, and 100% of the donations we receive goes to their care. This is one of the differences between sanctuaries and petting zoos - the animals are not here to make a profit for humans; we are here to help them.

To have public events we also incur the expense of monthly portapotty rentals, among other hidden costs and hours of work done behind the scenes to prepare.

So please, if you RSVP to an event, let us know in advance if you can’t come, and when you do come, make sure you have your donation for the animals. Remember - we do this for them. 💚🙏🏼

This is my view every single time I come home. It’s also my reminder that every sacrifice and every inconvenience is 10000% worth it.

Another peaceful evening tour & campfire, led by our incredible volunteer coordinator Sara.

The group was small, due to a large number of no-shows (sigh), but everyone had a great time meeting the animals, and there was more popcorn & vegan marshmallows to go around!

We even celebrated a birthday 🎉 Happy birthday Alice - thank you for spending your special day with us!!!
