🎄🐾 I hate to be the one to push the FFW button on you BUT…

If your pup isn’t booked through the end of the year yet, now might be the time to start thinking about those December appointments! 🎅🏼

I know, I know… it’s only September and nobody wants to think about Christmas yet BUT the holiday season is notoriously one of the busiest times of year in the grooming industry, and December appointments tend to fill up very quickly!

If you know roughly when your pup will be due, I highly recommend booking ahead now so you can secure a day and time that works best for you.

🎄 HOLIDAY SCHEDULING
I’ll most likely be opening up some additional weekend appointments leading up to Christmas to help accommodate everyone!

Please also keep in mind that Bonafide Dog Cuts will be CLOSED December 23rd – January 3rd, reopening January 4th.

So if your pup would normally be due for their groom between Christmas and New Year’s, we’ll want to plan their appointment for before December 23rd or after I reopen in January.

🐾 A Friendly Reminder About Appointment Times

To help keep the salon calm and running smoothly, please arrive as close to your scheduled appointment time as possible for both drop-off and pickup.

Bonafide is a small, low-volume grooming salon, and I work with many dogs who are anxious, fearful, reactive, or simply more comfortable with a little extra personal space.

A lot of thought goes into planning each day. I intentionally build buffers between appointments to reduce the chances of dogs crossing paths and to create a calmer transition between clients.

When someone arrives 15–20 minutes early, or is running behind for a drop-off or pickup, those carefully planned buffers can disappear very quickly. While I always do my best to provide that one-on-one feeling, some overlap is still possible and staying close to your scheduled times helps me keep it to a minimum.

Those little spaces in my schedule are also often used for stand-alone services like nail trims and ear cleanings. Arriving early for a grooming appointment can mean arriving during another client’s scheduled service.

I can create the schedule, but I need your help to make it work!

If you arrive early, no worries! Please simply wait in your vehicle or in the hallway until your scheduled appointment time before coming into the salon.

Please also remember to never open the grooming door or enter the grooming space without permission, as this helps keep all dogs safe and prevents unnecessary stress or interruptions.

Thank you so much for helping me maintain a calm, comfortable and inclusive grooming environment where every dog’s individual needs can be respected.

Fluffy coats start at home. 🧸🐾

One of my absolute favourite tools for at-home coat maintenance- if you love that fluffy, teddy-bear look, this is one you NEED in your grooming kit. 🪮

Owning the right tools is only half the battle, how you brush matters!
For longer, fluffy coats, I recommend line brushing with a slicker brush, followed by a fine-tooth metal comb ALL the way down to the skin.

The slicker brush helps separate and work through the coat, but your metal comb is your final check. If that comb can’t glide smoothly from the skin right through to the ends, there’s still a tangle hiding in there!

Pay extra attention to the areas that mat the fastest:
Legs, feet & between the toes
Behind & underneath the ears
Chest & collar/harness areas
Belly & groin
Tail
Cheeks, chin & around the muzzle

🧸 Want a fluffy teddy-bear face? That face needs to be combed right down to the skin.
Want a beautiful long, flowing tail? The tail needs regular brushing AND combing from base to tip.
Want cute, round fluffy paws instead of toes that look like individual little fingers? Those legs and feet need to stay mat-free too!

Your groomer can only leave length where the coat is safely maintained. The more coat you want to keep, the more maintenance it requires between appointments. 🤎
