WE HAVE HONOURABLE MENTIONS!

The top three winners of this year’s Tippy Trophy have been announced already, but now we can announce our ten honourable mentions! In alphabetical order: Elia Bargen, Beatrix Fortier-Grand, Ethan LeBlanc, Jay MacDonald, Piper Occomore, Shae Robinson, Annabella Smart, Everett Stright, Bella Sumang and Charlie Tanner.
Huge congratulations to these terrific artists; it was fantastic getting to see their work, and the work of so many young illustrators, painters and sketchers from across our region.

With the weather getting warmer, we want to warn our community about a very common emergency we see far too often this time of year: heat stroke in pets.

🌡️ Did you know? On a 24°C day, the inside of a parked car can reach 38°C in just 10 minutes, even with the windows cracked!

Leaving your pet in a hot car, even for a "quick errand," can lead to heat exhaustion, organ failure, or even death. It’s not worth the risk.

Signs of heat stroke in pets include:
☀️ Heavy panting
☀️ Drooling or foaming at the mouth
☀️ Lethargy or collapse
☀️ Vomiting or diarrhea
☀️ Red or pale gums

👉 If you suspect heat stroke, move your pet to a cool area and call us immediately.

Happy Drew’s Day 💕🐱

Everyone left me for the long weekend yesterday… and I have to admit, I missed my people 🥺🐾

Luckily, today I’m getting lots of snuggles from my friend Vanessa, one of our amazing Vet Assistants 💙 I may act tough around here, but even clinic cats need a little extra love after a quiet day.

Safe to say I’m very happy the humans are back where they belong 😌

TIPPY TROPHY WINNERS

The fourth annual Tippy Trophy Art Contest is finished! We had heaps of entries from kids and schools across Cumberland and Tantramar. The theme, ‘Myths, Monsters and Magic’ inspired immensely creative work. It was an absolute joy seeing so many pieces of outstanding art. Every child who put energy, passion and effort into their entry should feel immensely proud of themselves.

We have picked our top three, and our 10 honourable mentions. Art is subjective, of course, and a different judging panel on a different day might have yielded a different result, but what is not in question is the outstanding quality of these thirteen entries.

The winner of the Tippy Trophy is Ashton Francisco! Ashton’s piece will be displayed in our lobby for the next year. We were astounded by his drawing of a menacing swordsman mid-combat. Second place goes to Alexis Kouwenberg for her utterly charming crayon picture of a leprechaun. And third is awarded to Amelia Simpson for her compelling painting of a woodland fairy, with whimsical landscape details.

Our ten Honourable Mentions will be posted as soon as we have confirmed permission to name them all (or as many as permitted).

Happy Drew’s Day ☀️🐱

Somedays you can find me in rehab… enjoying the sunshine and making myself comfortable 😌

It’s been so nice seeing the sun again after a long, cold winter. I don’t know about you, but I am more than ready for brighter days and warmer naps. 🌷

Some may think I’m just relaxing, but I’m actually supervising the team, testing the warmest nap spots, and making sure the rehab area stays full of calm, healing vibes 🐾

Sunshine, a comfy floor, and important clinic duties? Sounds like a perfect day to me. ☀️

Happy Drews Day! 🐱

So… the other day I met someone new at the clinic. His name is Heto, and he’s a Scarlet Macaw! He's very bright & very feathery! 🦜

I’ll admit, I wasn’t totally sure what to think at first. I mean, I’m used to dogs and cats… not flying rainbow creatures! 😅 But I kept my cool, observed from a safe distance, and did some professional-level investigating.

At the end of the day, I’m always happy to make new friends… even the extra colorful ones. 💛
