💙 Sweet, chill, cool guy Walter! 💙

Walter came in for a check-up last week because he just wasn’t feeling or acting like himself. We found a little battle wound on his belly, and this sweet boy laid just like this in Dr. Franny’s arms while we cleaned him all up. What a gold star patient! ⭐️

Walter holds a special place in our hearts because back in early 2022, he spent several days with us battling a nasty ruptured eardrum that left him quite ill. Our team spent a great deal of time treating him and giving him major TLC, and eventually got him back to his happy, healthy self. Seeing him come in looking so good (aside from his little battle wound!) really warmed our hearts. 🥹💙

With some antibiotics and pain medication, we expect Walter to be feeling like his amazing self again in no time!

We’re always so happy to see our old friends doing well. Keep being your sweet self, Walter! 🐾💙

💙🐾 Tech Week Spotlight: The Heart Behind the Scrubs! 🐾💙

Veterinary Technician Week is all about celebrating the incredible people who help keep veterinary medicine moving, and today, we want to shine a light on just how much our RVTs bring to the table at Cumberland County Animal Hospital!

Being an RVT means being a little bit of everything. 🩺

🐶 The nurses – providing hands-on patient care, monitoring vital signs, and supporting recovery.

🔬 The scientists – running laboratory tests, analyzing results, and helping veterinarians get the answers they need.

💉 The anesthetists – carefully monitoring patients and keeping them safe during procedures.

🦷 The dental experts – helping protect our patients’ oral health and overall well-being.

💊 The educators – helping pet owners understand medications, nutrition, preventative care, and so much more.

❤️ The advocates – speaking up for patients, recognizing subtle changes, and making sure every animal receives the care they deserve.

🤗 The comforters – offering gentle hands, patience, and reassurance to animals who may be frightened, uncomfortable, or unwell.

And that's only scratching the surface!

RVTs balance technical knowledge with compassion, critical thinking with quick decisions, and long to-do lists with the needs of every patient in their care. They celebrate the little victories, carry the difficult moments with them, and continue showing up for the animals who depend on them.

Veterinary medicine is a team effort, and RVTs are an absolutely essential part of that team. Their contributions deserve recognition, respect, and appreciation every single day — not just during Tech Week. 💙

Introducing Dr. Jack O’Lantern – Pumpkin Surgeon! 🩺🎃

Our very own Dr. Mike has done it AGAIN!! 👏

We’re so excited to share this year’s creation for the 2026 Scarecrow Stroll / Amherst in Gloom! 🧡🖤

Dr. Jack O’Lantern has been scooping guts since 1776… and judging by the looks of his latest patient, we’re not too sure we’d trust him with surgery! 😂🔪

This is our 6th year participating, and somehow the creations just keep getting better and better!

A HUGE shoutout to Dr. Mike, the creative mastermind behind this year’s masterpiece! His imagination and creativity never disappoint! And of course, a big thank you to our amazing CCAH team for helping bring his vision to life! 🥰

We love being part of this fun community tradition! A big thank you to Amherst Community Living for organizing another fantastic Scarecrow Stroll and bringing a little extra Halloween spirit to Amherst! 🎃

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Chrissy, one of our dedicated Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) here at Cumberland County Animal Hospital!

If there’s one thing you should know about Chrissy, it’s that she’s our resident nutrition nerd! 🤓🐾 She loves learning about pet nutrition and helping clients make informed decisions about their pets’ diets to support healthier, happier lives.

Chrissy also takes the lead in running our remote services clinics in Tatamagouche and Parrsboro, helping bring veterinary care closer to the communities and patients who need it. 🚗🐶🐱

One of Chrissy’s greatest strengths is her eagerness to keep learning and growing. She’s always looking for ways to expand her knowledge, develop her skills, and find new ways to better support our patients and their families. Because in veterinary medicine, there’s always something new to learn! 📚❤️

We’re grateful to have Chrissy on our team and appreciate all the hard work, curiosity, and compassion she brings to CCAH every day.

🎃🔪 THE HALLOWEEN HORROR CREW HAS ARRIVED!! 👻🐾

Don’t let their names scare you… these little monsters are anything BUT terrifying! 😂❤️

Meet our newest litter of SIX absolutely adorable kittens, named after some of the most iconic horror movie characters!

And seriously… could they BE any cuter?! 😍

These six little sweethearts have completely stolen our hearts! They’re an incredibly sweet bunch, and we just can’t get enough of their adorable little faces and personalities. 🥹❤️

And in true CCAH Kitten Program fashion, Chucky has already found his forever family before we even had a chance to introduce him! 😂🏡

That leaves FIVE little Halloween cuties looking for families of their own!

🐾🐈As RVT week begins we start off by celebrating Rachael, one of the wonderful Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) here at Cumberland County Animal Hospital!

Rachael brings so much passion, dedication, and heart to everything she does. She is a fierce advocate for her patients, always striving to make sure their needs are heard and that they receive the care and compassion they deserve. ❤️

With her gentle touch and kind nature, Rachael has a special way of making both animals and their humans feel comfortable and cared for. Whether she’s supporting a patient through a difficult day or reassuring a worried pet parent, she puts her heart into her work.

And, of course, we can’t forget her other special talent! 😂🎤 Rachael’s amazing voices when talking to our animal patients never fail to make the team laugh. We’re pretty sure some of our patients get the full voice-acting experience with their veterinary care! 🐾

We’re so lucky to have Rachael on our team. Her compassion, dedication, and sense of humour make her a truly special part of CCAH!

**UPDATE ... Cranberry has been ADOPTED**

🍁💕 Meet Cranberry! 💕🍁

Another little sweetheart from our Thanksgiving litter is officially ready to find her forever home! 🏡🐾

And seriously… HOW BEAUTIFUL IS THIS LITTLE GIRL?! 😍❤️

Cranberry is an absolute sweetheart with the prettiest little face and a gentle personality to match. 🥹

She can be a little shy when meeting new people, but don’t let that fool you! Give her a little time to get comfortable, and before you know it, she’s happily curled up on your lap, purring away and soaking up all the love and attention. 💕

And here’s something else we absolutely love about her… she adores Artie, our clinic cat! 🐱❤️ She loves spending time with him, and it’s just the sweetest thing to watch. We think she’d be very happy in a home with another friendly cat!

Cranberry is playful, curious, affectionate once she feels comfortable, and just an all-around lovely little girl. Sometimes the sweetest relationships start with a little patience, and we have a feeling whoever adopts Cranberry is going to have one very special little companion. 🥹❤️

As part of our kitten adoption program, Cranberry will be:

💙🐾 Happy Veterinary Technician Week! 🐾💙

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) who are an essential part of the veterinary healthcare team at Cumberland County Animal Hospital!

RVTs wear many hats throughout the clinic, and their roles go far beyond what you might see during an appointment. 🩺🐶🐱

From monitoring anesthesia and assisting with surgery to running laboratory tests, taking radiographs, administering medications, and providing nursing care, RVTs play a vital role in every stage of a patient's journey.

But their work doesn’t stop there! RVTs are educators, advocates, problem-solvers, nutrition enthusiasts, dental care specialists, and a source of comfort for both patients and their worried humans. They juggle busy schedules, think on their feet, notice the little details, and speak up for patients who can’t speak for themselves. ❤️

Behind every successful procedure, every carefully monitored recovery, and every patient who receives that extra bit of comfort, there is often an RVT working hard to make a difference.

Being an RVT requires extensive knowledge, technical skills, critical thinking, compassion, and a commitment to lifelong learning. It’s a profession that demands so much, but gives back in ways that are difficult to put into words.

This Veterinary Technician Week, we want to recognize and thank our amazing RVTs for the dedication, heart, and hard work they bring to CCAH every single day. We are incredibly grateful for everything you do for our patients, our clients, and our team! 💙

To all the RVTs out there: your skills matter, your voices matter, and the work you do matters. You are an invaluable part of veterinary medicine! 🐾
