This precious blue eyed gal “Skye” was laid to rest on Monday afternoon surrounded by her loving family and her forever soul mate “Houston” by her side. 💔Skye was one the most resilient dogs I have ever met, a splenectomy half her life ago and multiple vestibular episodes and this sweetie just kept going until it was time. 😢I will miss our swim sessions immensely and the silliness of this duo, many special moments together! “Houston” please stay strong and I will see you again in the fall when you are back from your cottage life! Until then, RIP beautiful Skye, we will meet again one day at the bridge love you, forever in my heart 💔 🐾🙏💦😢🌈🪽😇

Please welcome “Indiana Jones” but he prefers “Indy” a 10 1/2 year old labradoodle who has a partial cruciate injury on his left hind leg. This fellow LOVES the water so let’s get some non weight bearing safe movement in the water to support the muscles in the left hind leg ( and entire body ) and lots of conservative management! 🤞🙏See you again tomorrow Indy! 💙🐾💦🥰

The Guelph Humane Society is advising pet parents to keep their pets safe and indoors during the current air quality warning.

Extreme poor air quality can affect everyone regardless of health status or age; this applies to animals as well. Keeping pets indoors and keeping windows and doors closed as much as possible is an important step in protecting you and your pet's health. During air quality advisories, taking dogs out for quick bathroom breaks and moving daily exercise inside is also important.

Common symptoms animals can experience from poor air quality are eye, nose, and throat irritation, sneezing, or a mild cough.

Some things you can do to help keep your dog calm and content during these advisories can include indoor enrichment activities such as snuffle or lick mats, treat/food finding games, and/or digging boxes. Cats and small animals should remain indoors at all times to avoid poor air.

If you believe your animal is experiencing a medical episode, contact your local vet clinic or emergency vet. If your pet becomes lost, contact your local humane society. If you find a sick, injured or orphaned wildlife contact your local humane society.
