I'm not here to desensitize the dog to me.
I'm here to sensitize myself to him and his world.
This is Sparkle, flying through the frame on set at Martini Film Studios. We're back here working on another music video, and it's our most favourite place to be and work.
"People see the jump. They ooh and aah and clap. What they don't see is everything that comes before it."
Before I ask a dog to perform, I study them. What makes them curious? What makes them unsure? What sounds, surfaces and spaces matter to them? How do they tell me they're ready?
Great film dogs aren't made by pushing them through the world. They're made by learning to see the world through their eyes.
That's how we build trust. And trust is what gets you a jump like this.
Want to train your dog the way we train movie dogs? My ebook "Trained Like a Movie Dog” walks you through the foundations I use with my working dogs. Link in bio.
