Diesel has honestly been such a rewarding dog to work with. He is a very high arousal dog and came into training with severe reactivity towards other dogs, including a serious incident with another dog in the past. A huge part of our work was not just obedience, but teaching him how to better regulate that arousal, come back down, think through excitement and respond to his owners even when the environment was challenging.

His owners have also put a lot of effort into learning how to work with him, which is a massive part of why they are now able to take him places with much more confidence.

Diesel is still Diesel energetic, intense and full of personality but seeing him heel, recall, hold positions at a distance off leash without an e-collar and stay much more composed in the real world has been awesome to watch.

Very proud of how far both Diesel and his owners have come.

Hana has come a long way 👏

When we first started, even simple things like leaving her bed, walking on leash and working through new environments could be a challenge. Now she’s building confidence, working through uncertainty and starting to show much more understanding with her heel, recall and obedience.

Still lots to improve, but this is exactly the type of progress I want to see — not just better obedience, but a dog becoming more comfortable and capable in the real world.

Day one of off leash reliability. The focus isn’t on a dog afraid to be wrong. It’s on building a dog who wants to work because there’s value in it for her. We kept it fun, gave her room to explore, and paid her when she chose to come back. This is just one step, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Hanna is a pretty social girl, but she doesn’t easily trust or build a relationship with many people, so a big part of her training right now is building that trust and confidence with me.

Today we worked through some different obstacles and environments without her owner being there which is huge, for a dog like Hanna! giving her a little guidance when needed but also letting her figure things out on her own. The goal is for her to learn that she can work through things she is unsure about, recover, and become more confident each time.

Really happy with how much she is starting to open up!

Zeke did really well at Bass Pro for his first-ever outing! He spent most of the time in “break” with freedom on the Flexi, and I sprinkled in a bit of obedience and confidence-building throughout. This was really good exposure work for him, especially considering he used to get overwhelmed by almost everything and would become quite fixated on movement, sounds, and things in the environment. There was another dog there as well, and Zeke stayed neutral for the most part, although he was a little curious.
