What?!? An entire year has come and gone already? It feels like it was just yesterday we were getting ready for the 2024 riding season!

But, here we are, the 2025 riding season is just around the corner!! We just had our herd health day and the horses are all ready to get back to work. They are ready to go for the summer and can't wait to see you!!

It is that time of year again when we are starting to register riders for lessons!

Our website was recently updated to reflect the dates we are running this summer. We are so excited to see how much the riders have grown and changed since last summer. We are also so excited to meet some new riders!

The Spring Fling Schooling Show is getting ready to start! 10 minutes to show time!

Stop by the Aberdeen Equestrian Centre to enjoy the show! There is also a concession, so come feed your families and enjoy the horses!

Hello L&N Families!

The Aberdeen Equestrian Centre is holding a horse show this weekend! The show, hosted by the Saskatchewan Paint Horse Club, begins at 9:30am and will run until approximately 4:00pm. There will be a variety of classes throughout the day, including in-hand classes, English classes and Western classes. Nikki will be there as announcer all day, as well!

It's the last day of the 10 day photo challenge!

These four. They are the best herd of horses anyone could ask for. They make us laugh, they make us cringe, they make us so happy. Ace, Pat, Cruise, and Ducky - I don't know what I'd do without you.

There have been many great horses in my life. I've learned something new from all of them. Each one has brought immeasurable joy into my life. I feel so grateful for all of them.

Here's to all the great horse memories we've made and to all the ones yet to come! Cheers!

Day 9 is here!

Today's photo is meant to represent the quiet moments when you get to fully relax and simply enjoy the company of your horse.

This photo was taken back in November as part of my "No Stirrups November" personal challenge. I decided to hop on Cruise for a quick little sunset ride. The arena was a mess, he was a mess, and if you could see me you would see that I was a mess, too. But, it was such a peaceful evening and, in my opinion, the best view.

This place, from the back of my go-to horse, with this view, is where my world makes sense. This is my happy place.

Day 8 of the Equestrian Photo Challenge!

Today's photo is a big shout out to Luke, also known to many out here as "The Stable Boy".

I also want to celebrate Luke and his commitment to helping with the horses. He did not grow up riding (he didn't even have a pet, pre-Nikki), but he takes on all of the farm and horse adventures in stride. He is a master of building or mending fences, an excellent stable hand, and fabulous horse trailer chauffeur. He takes care of so many things behind the scenes that it would be impossible to list them all.

Photo 7 was taken on the same day as Photo 6.

I LOVE this picture because it sums up Ace so perfectly. This guy is always up to something and is too clever for his own good. He is so mischievous and has the uncanny ability to make us laugh, groan, and shake our heads all in the same breath. Thanks to Ace, every gate on our property has carabiner on it and we had to build an extra gate in front of the barn. He fills our hearts with joy and causes our hair to grey. But we love him (most days, according to Luke 😜).

Thanks for always keeping us on our toes, Ace!

Whoops! I forgot to post yesterday's photo challenge picture! To make up for it, I'll post 2 today.

Photo number 6 is of Pat and Ace. This picture was their first day at L&N Stables. They have a special place in my heart. They were given to us after my mentor/horse mom, Gerri Wurtz, passed away to help us start our lesson program. They were already seasoned beginner lesson horses and were an invaluable gift to us. We love them so much and will be forever grateful to the Wurtz's for trusting us with them. Without these two, L&N wouldn't exist. They are the backbone of our lesson program.

Thanks Pat and Ace for being so awesome!

It's Day 5 and I am cheating. Today I am sharing two pictures!

For the last few summers I have been ring steward at the Melfort Fair Light Horse Show, which is where I first began horse showing. Then, last summer I was asked to announce at a couple of local horse shows. It has been so much fun to return to the horse show world in these different roles. Announcing, in particular, is a role that I hadn't considered before but I absolutely love! I mean, getting to TALK about horses while being SURROUNDED by horses for MULTIPLE DAYS?!?! Sounds like heaven to me! 😀

Please, have a good laugh at my beet red face after forgetting to put on enough sunblock at the Melfort Fair. Then, look at the amazing view I had of the Bridge City Classic from the announcer's booth in Saskatoon!

I look forward to new exciting opportunities in the world of horses! There is so much to do and see!

It's Day 4!

Today's photo is the current herd of horses. Pat, Ace, Ducky, and Cruise are the best little herd! These ones will be remembered forever as the first herd of awesome lesson horses at L&N Stables!

Our website will be updated soon to reflect the dates for our summer riding season, so watch for that post! Early registration will begin in May for current L&N riders and open to the general public in June.
