🔦 Art of the Bridlehorse - Makers Spotlight!!! 🔦

High Valley Ranch Leather & Weaving is based out of Abbotsford B.C. but forged over more than 15 years of outfitting in the deep wilderness of Northern B.C. Together Craig and Judy create beautiful and functional handcrafted gear built for the backcountry and the working horse as well as unique hand-burned wood cutting boards, small-batch, home grown mountain flower honey and their famous red pepper jelly and pickled jalapinos!

Make sure to stop by their table to browse their leatherwork, weaving and tasty goods and say hello! Cowboy Canada will be there as well! Find us on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Curling Arena or Saturday afternoon and Sunday in the Fall Fair Building.

Come enjoy the weekend and support the makers who help keep our western traditions alive!

Another day of Sumas Mountain Paradise

Well said ❤️

You could never kill an animal you raised… Is the most ironic statement.

But did you know, there is a strange kind of disconnect in judging the hands that raise their own food while trusting a drive-thru window to feed your children something you never saw live,
never saw raised, never saw processed,
never asked questions about.

You could never butcher a chicken, but you will hand your child nuggets shaped by machines, seasoned for addiction,
wrapped in paper, and call it normal.

You could never eat from your own pasture, but you will eat from a box,
a bag, a fryer, a factory line, and never wonder what had to happen before it reached your plate.

You could never stomach the blood,
but you trust the label.

You could never face the life, but you consume the death.

You could never raise it, love it, feed it,
thank God for it, and use it with reverence.

But every morning, you rub chemicals beneath your arms, spray fragrance over your skin, swallow ingredients you can not pronounce, and call the farmer cruel.

Maybe the cruelty is not in knowing where your food comes from.

Maybe the cruelty is in forgetting.
For the farmer remembers.

The farmer sees the life.
The farmer carries the weight.
The farmer gives thanks.
The farmer wastes little.

And while the world grows farther from the soil, the barn, the blood, and the truth…

Some of us still believe food should come with gratitude, not ignorance.

Thank God for the Farmer and all the Homesteaders pulling up chairs at this Grand Table of animal husbandry. ❤️ 🤠

We are so excited to announce that this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is officially FULL!

A huge thank you to everyone who signed up and came out to learn at the Branding 101 Clinics with Jeff Taylor & Keely Durrell! The support, enthusiasm, and commitment to preserving these traditional ranching skills has been incredible to see.

We are grateful for every participant who chose to spend the weekend learning, working cattle, building skills, and carrying forward the heritage of practical stockmanship and horsemanship.

Thank you for supporting the BC Bridlehorse Heritage Association and helping keep these traditions alive for future generations. We cannot wait to see everyone in June!

Two beginner-friendly clinics designed to build confidence, skills, and horsemanship in a supportive environment—perfect prep for the Art of the Bridlehorse this September! No horse needed as this will be all from the ground.
