🍂 With fall officially here, there's no better time to welcome a new furry family member. Over 600 pets found homes in PetSmart stores during the first week of fall, but PetSmart Charities of Canada is helping more pets find loving homes this season.

Wondering why fall is such a great time to adopt?

🍁 Settle in before the holidays: The quieter pace of the season gives your new pet time to adjust to their new home and routine before the busy holiday season begins.

🐾 Enjoy the season together: From crisp walks and outdoor adventures to cozy evenings on the couch, fall is the perfect time to build a lasting bond.

❤️ Help more pets in need: Every adoption not only changes the life of one pet, but also frees up valuable space and resources at local shelters and rescues so they can help even more animals.

Visit a PetSmart Charities of Canada adoption centre at your local PetSmart store to meet adoptable pets looking for loving families. Your newest best friend might be waiting this fall. 🐶🐱🍁

Every rescue story is special, but Puzzle’s feels like fate. 🧩❤️

After enduring years without the care she deserved, Puzzle was rescued by the Nova Scotia SPCA - Dartmouth Shelter and spent seven months receiving treatment for complex medical needs before finding the loving home she’d always dreamed of. As a proud PetSmart Charities of Canada partner, the Nova Scotia SPCA helped support Puzzle’s recovery and medical journey, giving her a second chance at a happy and healthy life.

When Brett and Jodi met Puzzle, they instantly knew she belonged with them. What they didn't expect was the incredible coincidence that followed: Brett had a tattoo sleeve featuring a single puzzle piece intentionally left unfinished. Around the same age as Puzzle herself, the tattoo's missing piece suddenly seemed to make perfect sense. 🥹

Today, Puzzle is thriving with her forever family, and is living her best life filled with walks, camping trips, toys and endless love. 🥰

Puzzle's story proves that sometimes the missing piece isn’t a thing at all... it has four paws. 🐾

Update: Thank you to everyone who has shared our little friend (who we have named Honey). No guardian has come forward and we are now thinking possibly the “finder” who brought her to the clinic was actually the owner but didn’t want to disclose it. Stay tuned for more updates!

Do you know me?
I was left at Central Langley Animal Hospital and they said I was found at Glover Road and 64th. I am only a baby so we are hoping someone is missing me. Please share so my mom or dad can call with proof of guardianship tomorrow morning to LAPS where I am having a sleepover with lots of toys and cosy blankets! Everyone has been so nice but I would like to go home!

Please consider attending and supporting the LAPS Gala !!!

Hey LAPS Community, it's Gala season! Our annual Dreams Do Come True Gala presented by The Schreder Brothers Real Estate Group happening on July 16th at Thunderbird show park is sure to be a hit! We invite you to gather with us for a time of excellent company, delicious food, great music and the chance to help us change lives over the coming year.

The funds we raise through our annual Gala are absolutely essential to our life saving work. This year, we hope to raise $100,000 for animals in need. Your support will mean that homeless cats and dogs will receive the love they deserve, vulnerable pets in low income households will have access to food and veterinary care, and that pets will continue to receive their furry tail stories well into the future. We truly can't do it without your support. Be a hero and purchase your tickets for this year's gala at https://e.givesmart.com/events/qju/

Please, help us share this post far and wide to ensure we are able to continue supporting Langley's animals over the coming year.

Women can do so much, but we do so much more together. Did you know that according to Statistics Canada, women hold more than 77% of jobs in the not for profit sector?

We are proud to have been founded by a dedicated team of women including Patti Dale, Kathy Kelm, Tania Dill, Patty Kolody, and Elayne Acheson. We are so thankful for the many inspiring women working hard to serve people and animals every day at LAPS. With 17 women on staff and many dedicated volunteers, the legacy a small team of women began truly carries forward today in incredible ways.

Thank you to every woman who supports LAPS and makes it possible for us to care for each and every animal who walks through our doors. We truly could not do it without you!

One of our wonderful adoption partners!

Join us for a kitten intake! 🙀

Every animal who comes into our care receives a head to tail assessment. While it's not always the prettiest part of shelter life, it is absolutely vital to keeping a safe and healthy shelter environment. Without proper intake, shelters run the risk of outbreaks in diseases not only for animals, but for staff and volunteers as well.

We are thrilled to announce that we will be live streaming kitten intake sessions in the near future! Our kitten intake includes critical steps such as: visual exams, taking their temperature, heart rate exams, raspatory rate exams, and ensuring their vaccinations are all up to date!

While it isn't a pretty job, it is one key piece of ensuring the welfare of animals at LAPS! Keep your eyes peeled for LIVE sessions with LAPS!
