WHY DOES MY DOG DESTROY THINGS WHEN I’M NOT HOME?

Come home to a chewed-up shoe, a shredded cushion, or what looks like a full home renovation?

Before you blame your dog, there’s usually a reason behind the destruction!

Here are 4 common culprits:

1. Boredom: Not enough to do, so your belongings become entertainment.

2. Pent-up energy: Sometimes dogs need more exercise, play, and mental stimulation.

3. Separation anxiety: Some dogs genuinely struggle when left alone and may become destructive because they’re stressed.

4. Natural chewing instincts: Chewing is normal dog behaviour, but dogs need appropriate things to chew on!

The important thing to remember: Dogs don’t destroy things out of spite. Understanding WHY it’s happening is the first step to changing the behaviour.

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO SOCIALIZE YOUR DOG WITH OTHER DOGS?

Have you ever wondered why socializing your dog is so important?

Introducing your dog to other dogs in a safe, positive and controlled way can help them learn canine body language, build confidence and feel more comfortable around other dogs.

But here’s something worth remembering: socialization doesn’t mean your dog has to play with every dog they meet!

Some dogs love making new friends, while others are perfectly happy keeping their distance. And that’s okay!

The goal is to help your dog feel comfortable and confident in different situations, not to force interactions that make them nervous or uncomfortable.

A few things to keep in mind:
🐾 Start slowly and make introductions positive.
🐾 Pay attention to your dog’s body language.
🐾 Choose suitable playmates and safe environments.
🐾 Never force an interaction if your dog seems uncomfortable.

A well-socialized dog isn’t necessarily the dog that plays with everyone. It’s a dog that can navigate the world feeling safe and confident.

**DO OUR PETS HAVE AN INVISIBLE CLOCK? **

Seriously, how do they do it?!

You can sleep in on your day off, but somehow your dog knows exactly when you’re supposed to get up.

Your cat can be fast asleep in another room, but the second it’s feeding time, they’re standing beside you like they’ve got a dinner reservation to keep.

And heaven forbid you’re five minutes late! Suddenly, you’re getting stared down like you’ve personally ruined their entire day. 😂

So what’s going on here? Do our pets have some kind of built-in clock, or have they just trained us so well that they know exactly when to expect things?

When we think of dogs, most of us picture our best friends, couch buddies, or the ones waiting by the door for us to come home.

But some dogs have jobs that are incredibly important—and sometimes incredibly dangerous.

Search and rescue dogs can be sent into collapsed buildings, mountains, and other dangerous situations to find people who need help.

Police and military dogs can be trained to detect explosives, drugs, and other threats, while also working alongside their handlers in potentially dangerous situations.

Service dogs help people with disabilities navigate everyday life, and detection dogs can even be trained to find certain medical conditions or alert their handlers to changes in their health.

Then there are livestock guardian dogs, avalanche dogs, guide dogs, and so many others.

These dogs aren’t just working—they’re relying on their training, instincts, and incredible bond with their handlers to do jobs that can make a life-changing difference.

❤️ They may have four legs, but some of these dogs have some pretty big responsibilities.
