🐾 Meet 10 of our adoptable cats! 🐾

We currently have so many wonderful cats and kittens waiting for their forever homes. Here are the first 10, alphabetically, from our adoption page:

💛 Andrea is a reserved but playful older kitten with incredible markings and a sweet purr. Bring out a wand toy and she comes alive! She needs to be adopted with one of her siblings, preferably Emily.

🖤 Batman is a shy but charming tuxedo teen who has made incredible progress learning to trust. He loves dramatic flops, evening zoomies and hunting flies. Batman is bonded with Spider Gwen and they must be adopted together.

💛 Betty is curious, friendly and always ready for her next adventure. She may need a moment to adjust, but once she does, she is all in. Betty is bonded with her sister Clipsie.

🖤 British is a quiet, thoughtful kitten with an adorable little mustache. He enjoys affection and has developed a special fondness for his young foster human. British must be adopted with his brother Ont.

💛 Bruno is a handsome, playful teen who loves toy mice, laser lights, wand toys and ear scritches. He would thrive in a quieter, adult-only home with his bonded sister, Dua Lipa.

🖤 Cerros is an affectionate, confident little heart-stealer who wants to be involved in everything you do. He loves cuddles, attention, food and giving kisses. Cerros needs a feline friend in his new home.

💛 Chutney is visually impaired, but that does not slow her down! She confidently explores, chases toys and keeps up with her siblings. At bedtime, she becomes a purring master biscuit maker. Chutney must be adopted with Paulette.

🖤 Clipsie is a sweet little whirlwind with an instant purr. Once she settles in, she is ready for playtime, cuddles and everything in between. Clipsie is bonded with her sister Betty.

💛 Dime is a gentle observer who has blossomed into a complete snuggle bug. She loves quiet lap time and following her people around. Dime needs to be adopted with a sibling or into a home with another friendly cat.

🖤 DJ Zest is a mellow, affectionate adult who loves pets, tummy rubs and quietly watching the world go by. He would do best in an adult-only home and may enjoy living with another calm cat.

Could one of these incredible cats be your perfect match?

🚨 TEMPORARY INTAKE CLOSURE 🚨

Effective immediately, all new intakes are closed for a minimum of 14 days.

This includes:
🐾 Stray cat intakes
🐾 Owner surrenders, which have already been closed
🐾 Transfers from other organizations
🐾 New TNR sites beyond the colonies and locations we are already actively working with

Right now, we simply cannot ethically bring more cats into our care without risking the quality of care provided to the cats already depending on us.

And that is a line we will not cross.

We currently have 105 kittens under six months old in care. That number does not include the dozens of adult and teenage cats also relying on our rescue.

The kittens who are ready for adoption have been posted, but many others simply aren't ready yet. Some are too young or still intact. Some are still working on socialization. And right now, we are also caring for kittens and cats being treated for GI issues, upper respiratory infections, ringworm and other medical concerns.

These illnesses don't just delay adoption. They can mean weeks of treatment, isolation and monitoring. They require additional foster space, medications, veterinary care, cleaning and sanitation supplies, and a tremendous amount of volunteer and foster time.

They also come with a significant financial cost.

At the same time, many of our foster families are wrapping up summer vacations or just returning home, and our team is actively shuffling placements and making sure every cat already in our care has somewhere appropriate to go.

Sometimes, being a responsible rescue means saying no.

No to another intake.

No to another TNR site right now.

And sometimes, heartbreakingly, no when a family reaches out asking for help with their own cat because the funding, foster space, volunteer capacity, or other resources simply aren't available.

We hate saying no. But saying yes when we don't have the resources to properly care for another animal isn't helping. It only shifts the crisis onto the cats already depending on us.

Our responsibility is to every cat we have already said yes to.

For at least the next 14 days, our focus needs to be on them. Getting kittens healthy, socialized, altered and adoption ready. Treating the cats who are sick. Supporting our foster homes. Moving adoptable cats into homes. Continuing the TNR projects we have already committed to. And rebuilding the physical, human and financial capacity that will eventually allow us to safely reopen.

❤️ HOW YOU CAN HELP RIGHT NOW

🐾 Adopt. Every successful adoption creates space and resources for another cat who will eventually need us.

🏠 Foster. More foster homes mean more flexibility for the cats already in our care and greater capacity when intakes reopen.

🙋 Volunteer. Our volunteers are essential to keeping this many cats cared for and moving toward adoption.

💚 Donate. Veterinary care, medications, food, litter and supplies continue regardless of whether our intake doors are open.

📣 SHARE THIS POST. This one costs nothing and can make a huge difference. Sharing helps us reach potential adopters, fosters, volunteers and donors while also helping spread the word that our intake is temporarily closed.

The more people who see this, the better our chances of creating the capacity we need to start saying yes again.

We know there are still cats who need help during this closure. We know the calls, emails and messages won't stop.

But we cannot allow urgency to override responsible animal welfare.

Sometimes the most responsible thing a rescue can do is recognize its limit.

Right now, we are at ours.

Thank mew for understanding, supporting our team and helping us continue doing this work responsibly. 🐾💚

🐾 JOIN OUR VOLUNTEER TEAM! 🐾

Want to make a difference for cats in your community? We need more amazing humans to help us continue our life saving work across the Fraser Valley! 💚🐱

Abby Cat Daddy is a local registered charity working to improve the lives of community cats through rescue, adoption, TNR, spay and neuter programs, and community support.

And we can’t do it without volunteers.

Right now, we’re especially looking for:

🐱 PetSmart Adoption Centre Volunteers
Help care for our adoptable cats while they wait for their forever homes at our Sumas, Highstreet, and Chilliwack PetSmart Adoption Centres.

🧹 Cat Care Volunteers
Help with the day to day care of cats in our rescue, including feeding, cleaning, enrichment, and making sure everyone gets the love and attention they deserve.

🏡 Foster Homes
Open your home temporarily to a cat or kitten in need. From kittens and moms with babies to adult cats needing a second chance, fosters are what make it possible for us to say YES to more cats who need help.

Whether you can give a few hours of your time or open your home to foster, you can directly help us save more local cats.

No rescue experience? That’s okay! 💚

🚗 Honda is going from AWD to 3WD. 🐾

Meet Honda. 😹

This adorable little guy came into our care last week after being found in, very appropriately, a Honda dealership parking lot.

Unfortunately, Honda arrived with some pretty significant suspension damage.

After veterinary assessment and X-rays, we discovered that Honda has a badly broken knee. Based on the nature of his injuries, we believe he experienced significant trauma before being found, potentially from being thrown or falling from a moving vehicle.

Despite everything he has been through, Honda is still very much a kitten. He is sweet, silly, curious and has absolutely no idea that one of his wheels isn’t working properly.

Unfortunately, his knee cannot be repaired in a way that will give him a comfortable, pain free future. The best option for Honda is to amputate the injured leg.

And while amputation sounds scary to us, cats can do AMAZINGLY well on three legs. ❤️

The goal isn’t always to save a limb at all costs. The goal is to give the animal the best possible quality of life. For Honda, removing a painful and permanently damaged leg means he can get back to the important things in life…

Eating. Playing. Causing chaos. And eventually finding his forever home.

So Honda will soon officially be switching from AWD to 3WD. 😹

Unfortunately, this Honda did not come with a warranty.

His diagnostics, surgery, pain management and recovery all come with a cost, and unexpected medical cases like Honda are only possible because our community continues to support us.

If you’d like to contribute toward Honda’s repair bill and help keep Abby Cat Daddy saying YES to cats and kittens who need significant medical care, every donation makes a difference. ❤️
