Good morning from our little baby girl Phoenix ♥️

Phoenix is a 1 month old mini mule who was rescued by LMMR this weekend after being sent through an auction alone, because her mother died and her owners refused to bottlefeed her. 💔

She is doing well this morning and nibbling on grass. She is still feeling a little unsure and sad without her mother. We are diligently searching for a nurse or gentle mini mare to bring to LMMR for her and waiting to hear back from a couple offers in our comments.

We thought about putting our micro mini mule Spotticus in with her, but she would likely nonstop try to nurse off of him which would be frustrating for both of them.

She has plenty of human companionship in the meantime and gets her milk every 5 hours. ♥️

Our little baby girl Phoenix is rising ♥️

Phoenix is a 1 month old mini mule who was rescued by LMMR this weekend after being sent through an auction alone, because her mother died and her owners refused to bottlefeed her. 💔

She got an excellent bloodwork report today, and her hydration levels are back to normal after several diligent feedings. She is such a quiet and sweet baby and lets the vets examine her with no halter.

Babies at LMMR are very few and far between - we’ve only had a handful over the years - so our staff are especially smitten with her, and we look forward to sharing way too many cute pictures with you all!

Update on our 1 month old mini mule, who was run through an auction alone last night after her mother died.

She has really turned a corner today! She’s gotten electrolytes, regular feedings, and she had a stool impaction removed that was caused by severe dehydration. We’ll have bloodwork information to share tomorrow. Her poops are looking more normal, and she’s had enough energy to do a little bit of running and braying now and then.

She very much misses her mom, and we’d give anything to fix that. We are scouting for a mini nurse mare, or a very friendly mini mare horse, to keep her company until weaning age.

Thank you so much for all the name suggestions, there were so many sent in and please know if we could’ve used them all, we would have - but one name was the perfect match right away. Say hello to little baby girl Phoenix ♥️

UPDATE: Her care has been FULLY covered by your donations and an Angel donor - thank you SO much everyone!! Please continue to leave us name suggestions. She is turning a corner and doing better as of right now. Any further donations will be applied to our current veterinary balance for other mules 💙

Last night we intercepted a 1 month old baby miniature Molly mule who was forced to go through an auction by herself after her mother died. 💔

The previous owners “did not want to deal with bottle feeding”, and that much is clear, because she is already very underweight and weak.

Our offer to purchase her before auction was either unseen or ignored. We are beyond saddened that she had to go through the ring and experience so much stress, and that she has been exposed to all kinds of pathogens. That was not the right way to deal with this situation.

But we acted and made sure she’s in the very best hands, knowing she would need knowledge at and potentially expensive care going forward if she crashes. We’re on her way to our vet with her for bloodwork, fluids if needed, and any other kind of supportive care they recommend to get ahead of any diseases she might have been exposed to at such a young age.

We’ve already fallen in love with this tiny little baby girl, but please know that she is very weak right now. We need our supporters to rally and send lots of good energy our way today. ❤️‍🩹

Our newest rescue arrived yesterday! His bent ear makes him look angry all the time, but so far, he’s actually very friendly and really wants our attention! He does act a bit studdy, but he’ll be gelded here soon and then on his way into our training program. We have taken the name suggestion of Napoleon for him. 💙

So far we have raised $418/$875 for Napoleon’s $375 auction price, plus $500 for a hoof trim, dental, dewormer, microchip, freezebrand, and 30 days of feed while in quarantine:
