And while some horses adapt to seasonal changes without a problem, others might need a little extra attention, especially when it comes to digestive health.

Can horses really get laminitis in autumn? 🍂

Yes, and a field that looks tired or nearly bare doesn’t necessarily mean the risk has disappeared.

Autumn grass, sugar-rich hay and underlying hormonal conditions such as EMS or PPID can all be part of the picture.
So if you have an easy keeper or a horse with a history of laminitis, autumn is a good time to look a little closer at what’s happening, from the field and forage to whether further testing with your vet could be useful.
