Founded in 2013, we have grown rapidly. We have rescued countless dogs and presently care for 60+ dogs. HOPE VMS Dogs is registered in the federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as an association for the protection of Animals. We have rescued countless dogs and presently care for 56 dogs. As of January 2023, we have had 299 adoptions! HOPE VMS run a main shelter where rescued animals can heal. Once

they are fully healed, vaccinated and sterilized they are available for adoption to safe happy homes (we conduct strict checks prior to adoption). With no official funding we rely solely on donations from individuals in the global community to continue or life saving work. We aim to relive the suffering and abuse of Bosnian Dogs through rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing. HOPE VMS is a no-kill shelter providing vaccination, sterilization and other necessary medical assistance to all rescued dogs. HOPE VMS can use donated medicines up to 12 months past their expiry date. We also always can use, bowls, towels, blankets, medical equipment and transportation boxes/cages. Tonight, dozens of rescued dogs will go to sleep safely in our shelter.

They will curl up in warm beds, eat a good meal and rest knowing they are no longer facing the world alone. For them, this shelter is more than a building. It is safety, care and the chance of a better future.

In three days, another shelter rent payment falls due. Every month we face the same challenge: making sure this safe place remains here for the dogs who depend on it.

That is why monthly donations matter so much.

A regular gift of just €5 helps feed rescue dogs. €10 helps provide daily care and cleaning. €20 helps cover medical treatment, shelter costs and the ongoing care these dogs need while they wait for their forever homes.

Some days, I sit down to write these posts and wonder how many of you reading them wish there was something more you could do.

The truth is, there is. We need donations, but we also desperately need more people seeing our posts 🙏

We know you care about our dogs. We know many of you want to help whenever you can.

We also know that times are difficult, and not everyone is able to give as much as they would like.

So the next time you see one of our posts asking for donations and find yourself thinking, "I wish I could help more, but I can only spare a tiny amount", please know that there's something else we really need your help with as well.

Tonight, dogs at the shelter are sleeping safely because people cared.

Not because of one big miracle.
Not because of one wealthy donor.
But because hundreds of small acts of kindness came together.

Every share.
Every kind message.
Every donation.
Every person who stopped scrolling long enough to care.

Because of this community, frightened dogs have warm beds. Food bowls are filled. Kennels are cleaned. Lights stay on. Dogs who once slept outside in fear can finally sleep peacefully.

This campaign has reminded us that we are not carrying this alone.

In a world that can feel overwhelming, this community continues to choose compassion, kindness and safety for animals who have nobody else.

That matters more than we can ever properly explain.

💔🌈 Run Free, Sweet Chupko 🌈💔

It is with heavy hearts that we share that Chupko has sadly passed. Since our last update, he has had some good days and we have faced some hard decisions. After a bath to wash away years of grime, he felt more comfortable, so we explored surgery. Unfortunately the vets advised that the risks were simply too high, so he was moved into a loving foster home, where he received care, comfort, and felt love until the end.

Yesterday, his condition worsened, the tumour began bleeding again, and he was eating less. The kindest thing we could do was let him rest peacefully.

Because of your support, Chupko’s final chapter was filled with love. He knew care, comfort, and that his life mattered. He was not alone, and his journey was different because of you. We have chosen to leave his GoFundMe open in his memory so future support can help other dogs in our care receive the same care and comfort he had.

Run free, sweet boy. No more pain, no more suffering. You will always remain in our hearts. ❤️🌈

Most people understand that rescue dogs need food, veterinary care and a safe place to sleep.

But some of the most important shelter costs are the ones no one really sees.

They are in the washing machine running again because another pile of blankets needs cleaning. They are in the lights left on while the dogs settle for the night. They are in the water bowls being scrubbed, the floors being washed, the bedding being replaced, and the kennel repairs that have to be done before small problems become bigger ones.

These quiet, ordinary costs are part of what keeps more than 60 dogs safe inside the shelter.

They are not dramatic, but they matter every single day. A clean kennel, a dry blanket, fresh water, working lights and safe doors all help frightened dogs rest, recover and begin to feel secure.

This is why a rent campaign is never only about rent. It is about keeping the whole shelter running around the dogs who depend on it.

Hope VMS Elaine’s Dogs has no reserve funding. Every monthly bill is covered only because supporters choose to help when the need arises.

Our June shelter campaign is currently at 32%, with €1,480 still needed before 10th June.

He arrived holding one eye shut in pain.

Another hunting dog suffering quietly until somebody finally stopped to help him.

For days he stayed at the vet clinic receiving treatment, while everyone hoped the injury was not too severe. At first, we did not know if his eye could recover..

Slowly, the medication and therapy began to work and his eye is now looking so much better.

Tonight he is finally safe in a foster home, resting, recovering and learning what kindness feels like while we search for the forever family he deserves.

This is the side of rescue people do not always see.

The emergency vet visits.
The days of treatment.
The waiting.
The worry.
The foster homes that make recovery possible.

And somehow, despite everything humans have failed him with before, he is still full of love.

Such a brave and beautiful boy.

Meet Bony. Bony doesn't know how much it costs to keep a shelter running.

He doesn't know about rent payments, bills or deadlines.

He doesn't know that every day costs £73 just to keep dogs like him safe.

What he does know is that tonight he has a warm bed, clean water, a full stomach and people who care for him.

For dogs like Bony, safety changes everything.

We're working hard to make sure that safety continues, but we need more people to see their story.

When the dog catchers arrived, this old girl didn't run. She couldn't.

At around 10 or 11 years old, she was simply too tired, too weak and too worn down by life on the streets.

When she came into our care, her coat was badly matted and she was desperately in need of help.

Since then, she has had a full veterinary check-up, a much-needed haircut and treatment started for an eye problem. Like every dog who comes through our gates, her care is made possible by supporters because Hope VMS has no reserve fund to fall back on.

Right now, she spends most of her day sleeping. She is still very weak, but she is warm. She is comfortable. And for the first time in a long time, she is safe.

We don't know what her life was like before she arrived. We only know that she deserved better than facing old age alone. Now she has people looking after her, soft bedding to rest on, and every chance to regain some strength in the weeks ahead.

Some dogs ask for very little. A warm bed, a full belly, and someone to care whether they wake up tomorrow.

We think she deserves all three. ❤️

This is what your support makes possible.

The dogs were fed.
Water bowls were cleaned and refilled.
Kennels were washed.
Bedding was checked.

Dogs played, rested in the sunshine and settled down for another safe evening.

It may not sound remarkable, but for many of the dogs here, this ordinary day is something they once lived without.

No fear.
No hunger.
No need to search for somewhere safe to sleep.

Just routine, care and the chance to recover at their own pace.

This is what a functioning shelter looks like.

Quiet.

Steady.

Safe.

And every single day, it exists because people choose to help.

🐾 This is Svrco. No one knew his name when he arrived. He came with nothing except fear in his eyes and nowhere left to go.

Dogs like Svrco are the reason we are asking for help today, because the shelter rent falls due this week and we are genuinely struggling to cover it.

Hope VMS Elaine’s Dogs has no reserve funding. Every rescue, every vet visit and every monthly bill is only possible because supporters donate when the need arises.

Without that support, frightened dogs like Svrco would have nowhere safe to turn.

Today he has a kennel, warm blankets, clean water, food in his bowl and people who care whether he survives. But keeping that safety in place for Svrco, and every other dog here, costs around €73 every single day.

That covers:
• shelter rent
• heating and electricity
• water and cleaning
• food and daily care

Most importantly, it keeps the doors open for the next abandoned dog who desperately needs somewhere safe.

Svrco is calmer now. He watches people instead of hiding from them. He sleeps properly. He is beginning to understand that kindness exists.

But his safety still depends on this shelter staying open.
