Even though so many of your duties happen behind the scenes, they never go unnoticed! From monitoring anaesthetics, collecting and running bloodwork, caring for hospitalised patients and keeping medications and food stocked, to supporting our patients and their families through the harder moments. Every part of what you do makes a difference. They’re there for the happy moments, difficult moments, late nights, early mornings and everything in between 💙

⚠️🩸BLOOD WARNING 🩸⚠️

Indy presented to us after her owners noticed that her tooth was falling out! 😱

Her canine tooth (the long, sharp “fang-like” tooth) had quite literally been ripped out and was only hanging on by the gum tissue attached to it. Ouch! 😬

Being such a large tooth, it had left quite a sizeable hole behind that needed to be repaired.

Once Indy was safely anaesthetised, Dr Courtney was able to remove the tooth and carefully stitch the area closed so it could heal nicely. 🩷🪡

Thankfully, Indy is recovering well and is now on the road to a happy, healthy smile! 🐶

Friendly reminder regarding Saturday morning consultations🐾

Our opening hours are 8am-12pm ~ our consultation hours are between 8:30am - 11:30am. Outside of these hours are charged at after hour rates. ⏰

We do try to have Saturday morning consultations reserved for urgent veterinary cases, however, sometimes we are simply unable to offer this.

📅 We run by appointment - we ask that you please call to make an appointment and arrive at your allocated appointment time. We do our best to keep things running smoothly, but urgent cases can sometimes mean there are unavoidable delays.

🩺 Please keep in mind that our Saturday morning service operates with a smaller team and more limited resources than during the week.

‼️Please be aware that:

- We reserve the right to turn away non-clients or cases that do not meet our urgent-care criteria.

- If your pet has had an issue that has been ongoing for several days, weeks, or longer, please don't wait until Saturday morning to have it assessed. Where possible, please book a regular weekday appointment.

- If your pet's condition suddenly worsens or becomes urgent, please contact us so we can advise you on the most appropriate care.

🐾🌾 GRASS SEED SEASON IS HERE! 🌾🐾

Grass seeds can easily become lodged in your pet’s fur, ears, eyes, paws and even their skin. If left untreated, they can cause irritation, infection and discomfort.

Jim recently visited us after grass seeds became lodged in his ears. He required sedation to safely remove them. Bella presented with a sore eye, and our team discovered a grass seed lodged underneath her eyelid. The grass seed had rubbed on the eye causing an ulcer which requires medication to treat. 👀🌾

🐶 Common signs to watch for include:
• Excessive licking or chewing of the paws
• Swollen or painful areas between the toes
• Head shaking or scratching at the ears
• Red, sore or watery eyes
• Sneezing or nasal discharge
• Sudden limping

🌾 How can you help prevent grass seed problems?
Regularly check your pet after walks or outdoor adventures, particularly around their paws, ears, eyes and between their toes.

Keeping long hair trimmed around the feet and ears can also make grass seeds easier to spot and remove before they become a problem.

HAPPY FRIDAY! 💛🐾

Our team has had a very busy day today, but it was all worthwhile because we got to meet the cutest litter of 10 Golden Retriever puppies! 🐶🥰

These little ones came in for their vaccinations, microchipping and worming, and they were all so well behaved — they even slept through the whole thing! 💛🐾

A perfect way to finish the week! 🥰

🎾 The answer is… a chewed-up piece of a tennis ball! 🎾

Some of your guesses were spot on… others, not so much! 😬😂

Meet Silly, the cutest little Fox Terrier who certainly lived up to her name — she swallowed something pretty silly! 🤪

Silly presented to us after vomiting and refusing to eat. Following X-rays and further investigation, it was determined that the best course of action was an exploratory laparotomy.

An exploratory laparotomy is a surgical procedure performed under general anaesthesia where we open the abdomen to examine the abdominal organs and gastrointestinal tract for signs of injury, disease or, in Silly’s case, a foreign object.

Our vets found the culprit — a chewed-up piece of tennis ball lodged in her intestines! 🎾

Thankfully, Silly recovered well after surgery and, a couple of days later, was happily eating and keeping her food down. Once we were happy with her progress, she was able to head home to her family! 🥰

We had the cutest little fox terrier come in a couple of weeks ago for potentially eating something silly! 🤪

We will post the answer by the end of the week 😊 p.s. She’s at home with her family recovering well 🥰
