🪱🦟 PARASITES DON’T TAKE A DAY OFF! 🐾

Fleas, ticks, intestinal worms and heartworm can all cause serious problems for our pets — and some parasites can affect us too! 😬

The tricky part? Your pet can have parasites without you seeing any obvious signs.

🦟 HEARTWORM
Spread by mosquitoes and potentially life-threatening. Prevention is much safer than treatment.

🕷️ TICKS
Ticks can cause serious illness and paralysis, particularly in dogs and cats. Regular prevention is essential.

🪱 INTESTINAL WORMS
Roundworm, hookworm and other intestinal parasites can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, weight loss and other health problems.

🦟 FLEAS

🐾💗 Happy International Vet Nurse Day! 💗🐾

Today we’re celebrating the incredible women who keep our clinic moving — and acknowledging everything that comes with being a veterinary nurse.

Because being a vet nurse isn’t just cuddling puppies and kittens. 🐶🐱

It’s early mornings, late finishes, skipped lunches and constantly being on your feet. It’s cleaning up vomit, urine, faeces and whatever else a patient has decided to leave behind. It’s being scratched, bitten, peed on, pooped on and occasionally thrown up on — sometimes all before morning tea. 😂

It’s holding an animal while your heart breaks for them. It’s comforting patients who are scared, supporting owners who are worried, monitoring anaesthetics, placing catheters, taking bloods, running lab work, preparing medications, assisting in surgery, cleaning kennels, restocking shelves, answering phones, doing paperwork and somehow remembering what everyone else needs at the same time.

It’s staying calm when things go wrong, making difficult decisions, advocating for patients who can’t speak for themselves and giving everything you have to animals who may never know your name.

And then there are the moments that make it all worthwhile — the patient who finally trusts you, the sick animal who gets to go home, the wagging tail at a recheck, and knowing that you made a difference when it mattered. ❤️

To our amazing vet nurses: we see you. We see the hard days, the emotional days, the exhausting days and all the little things you do that often go unnoticed.

Thank you for your knowledge, resilience, compassion, humour and the incredible amount of care you put into every patient.

We couldn’t do what we do without you. 🩺🐾
