We had a fantastic few days with Paul Bunker from Chiron K9 in Sydney.

King got to learn the beginning of a new intricate search technique that will help us with a special upcoming project. And I loved observing the buried hides training. We met so many wonderful people and their dogs too.

Thank you to Allsorts Dog Behaviour & Training Services for hosting.

Marie's recall is 🤌

It is vital that a conservation detection dog has a very strong recall not only for the safety of wildlife, but also for the dog themselves. They need to be able to respond at any moment regardless of distraction.

The important thing to remember though is that this isn't a skill that can be learnt overnight. It takes a lot of practice and building value in the return.

You'd never believe it now, but Marie used to struggle with recalling from a distance. So if you are having a difficult time with your dog, don't give up, keep training, be consistent, you'll get there.

And that's a wrap on the 2026 truffle season!

We had a wonderful winter helping Hidden Valley Farms, Goulburn NSW with their truffle hunt and tours.

Kingston especially enjoyed showing off his skills to large crowds and receiving belly rubs from all the visitors.

I enjoyed sharing my work with conservation detection dogs, and Kingston loved demonstrating for an audience!

Happy 5th birthday King!

We enjoyed a 2 hour hike this morning and then after a nap, the dogs helped me make the cake (King wanted to eat the spoon instead of just licking it).

Dinner was a whole quarter of the triple layer doggy-safe meatloaf cake with sweet potato and cream cheese frosting! Yum yum.
