MYTH: "It’s okay to skip flea and tick preventatives during the winter."

FALSE! 💥: Fleas prefer warmer conditions but they can be active year-round so that’s why using prevention throughout the year is essential. They are also quite happy to live in temperatures over 8 degrees, so freezing them out is also impossible in Australia. As soon as there are a few warmer days (or the heater is turned on) these eggs hatch. This leads to an emergence of fleas and lots of itchy pets.

🔹An adult female flea can lay up to 50 eggs per day.
🔹Once you get a flea outbreak, it can take up to 3 months to stop the cycle!

🌟 Breed Spotlight: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel 🌟

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is affectionate, and intelligent with endearing devotion. These happy little dogs are excellent with children, and their desire to interact with their guardians makes them pleasurable household companions.
They love to cuddle and have been described as the perfect lap dog. 🐾

The face of the Cavalier is distinctive for its sweet, gentle expression that owes much to its large, round, dark brown eyes, set well apart. The skull is slightly rounded and the muzzle full, but mildly tapered.
The coat is long, silky and soft and comes in four colour combinations: red and white with a partial red mask and ears and red patches on a white body; tricolour (black and white with tan points); ruby (solid red); and black and tan.
Regular grooming is key to keeping the Cavalier's coat lustrous.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels live on average 9-14 years. 💞

She's white with a distinctive black love heart on her side 🖤, with a ginger patch on her lower back/tail 🧡. And black, white and ginger face. Shes very vocal, confident cat.

Cotton is microchipped and was wearing a collar with her family's contact number.

Have you recently welcomed a new puppy into your family? 🐶
Enrol your puppy in our Puppy Kindy sessions facilitated by the expert instructors from RSPCA WA. 🐾🎓

Puppy Kindy is essential for developing your puppy into a happy and well adjusted member of the family.
Learn to train your dog using positive, reward-based techniques, including walking on a loose lead and recall (getting your dog to come back).

🟠 WHERE: Yanchep Veterinary Hospital
🟠 WHEN: Wednesday evenings - 6.30pm - 7:30pm

To enrol, your puppy must:
💉 Have had at least their 1st Vaccination
🐾 Be 8-13 weeks of age at the start of the course.

It involves 1 class per week, for 4 weeks.
By keeping our classes small (8 dogs maximum), we can provide individual attention to each pup to ensure they receive the benefits from a calm, safe learning environment.

Duke is a beautiful 9-year-old Ridgeback with a suspected brain tumour, however he was so gentle and calm natured when he came to visit us. What a handsome boy he is! 😍 He also loved the treats and was happy to pose for a photo. 📸🐾

🌟 Hypertension in Senior Cats 🌟

Did you know that high blood pressure (hypertension) is a silent stalker in our senior cats? Many cats show no signs at all, and sudden blindness is often the first sign that caregivers notice. 😺

🔴 Look out for these subtle signs in your cat and speak to our vet team about any concerns:
🔹Sleeping more
🔹Acting withdrawn
🔹Bumping into things
🔹Changes in the eyes, such as bleeding
🔹Signs from other diseases, such as weight loss and hyperactivity in cats with hyperthyroidism

Regular veterinary visits, including blood pressure checks, are especially important for senior cats, to catch signs of hypertension early. 💞
