**Happy Veterinary Nurse Day!**

Today we’re celebrating the incredible team of veterinary nurses who make Angourie Road Veterinary Surgery what it is.

Veterinary nurses wear so many hats, often all in the same day. They are nurses, anaesthetic monitors, surgical assistants, laboratory technicians, pharmacy managers, radiographers, patient advocates, professional comforters, client educators, problem solvers, and sometimes even mind readers! They clean, organise, anticipate, adapt, reassure, and somehow manage to keep everything moving when the day doesn't quite go to plan.

But above all, they are an indispensable part of the care we provide to our patients. From the tiniest details of a hospitalised animal's care to the complexities of anaesthesia and surgery, from comforting a frightened patient to supporting a family through a difficult goodbye, their knowledge, skill, compassion and dedication make a genuine difference every single day.

At ARVS, we have always said that "veterinary medicine and surgery are team sports". And we mean it. Excellent veterinary care is never the work of one person alone. It takes a team of people who trust one another, support one another, share their knowledge, and work together towards the same goal: the very best outcome for every animal in our care.

Dr Brenna and Dr Karen rely on our nurses every single day. We rely on their clinical skills, their judgement, their initiative, their attention to detail, their ability to anticipate what we need before we've even asked, and their willingness to step up when things get busy or challenging. They make our work better, our patients safer, and our days possible. Quite simply, we could not do what we do without them.

To Leisa, Rylie, Piper, Jackie, Olivia and Keira: thank you for the work you do that everyone sees, and for the countless things you do behind the scenes that often go unnoticed. Thank you for your kindness, your resilience, your humour, your teamwork, and the care you give so generously to our patients, their families, and each other.

We are so fortunate to have you on our team, and we are incredibly grateful for every one of you.

Happy Veterinary Nurse Day to our wonderful nurses — the heart of our team and an essential part of every success we celebrate.

The time has come to sniff out their forever homes!

These two cuties (one male, one female) were born on 28th January at Angourie Road Veterinary Surgery.

They are now weaned, well socialised and ready to strike out into the world and make it on their own!

If you would be interested in opening your heart to a new kitten, they are looking for their forever families!

Give us a call on 6646 9966 for further information. We hate to see them go, but it's time for them to spread their wings and live their best teenage kitten life!

This weekend, the whole ARVS team* is in Brisbane for the 2026 Veterinary Specialist Services Annual Conference.

It's a massive weekend, filled with incredible lectures, and opportunities to learn about new drugs, equipment and research.

By attending conferences and continually learning, we can ensure that we are always practicing to the highest standards and bringing the very best veterinary care that we possibly can to the pets and people of Yamba.

And of course...there is an opportunity to let our hair down at the Gala Dinner! The whole team works so hard serving others, it's so nice to see them being looked after instead!

*Rylie couldn't make it this weekend, but she's here in our hearts!

Meet Sadie (aka Mummacat).

Sadie has been staying with us for just over a month, getting ready to give birth. On Australia Day, she gave birth to these two beautiful kittens.

As they get older, we are asking the people of Yamba to help us give these kittens a socialised start to life. If the state of the world is currently getting you down, come in and cuddle a kitten! It's beneficial for you, and for them!

Families are welcome to cuddle the kittens, but note that all children must be supervised by responsible adults.

Cuddle-time is dependant on our patient intake load, hospital cases and nurse time, and Sadie's willingness to be social - so please call ahead and check in with us if you're planning on coming down. 6646 9966

Sadie is a gloriously gorgeous cat and generally loves interacting with lots of people, but we respect her Mumma-journey, so she will call the shots!

Of course, these kittens will need forever homes once they are weaned...talk to us if you're interested in adopting!

Exciting news!

Orthopaedic surgical services are now available at Angourie Road Veterinary Surgery!

We are pleased to announce that we can now offer a comprehensive range of orthopaedic procedures for dogs and cats, including surgery for cruciate ligament rupture, fracture repair, patella luxation, and other joint and mobility conditions.

In addition, we are expanding our advanced surgical capabilities to include more complex soft tissue procedures such as BOAS surgery for brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds, as well as total ear canal ablations for severe chronic ear disease.

This means less travelling to referral centres, faster access to treatment, and the comfort of knowing your pet’s entire care can be managed here at ARVS in Yamba, by the team you already know and trust.

If your pet is limping, struggling with mobility, or has a condition requiring surgical assessment, we are here to help. Give us a call on 6646 9966 to discuss further.

Pets and people of Yamba, have you met Dr Brenna?

It's our absolute pleasure to welcome the wickedly funny, kind, hardworking and incredible Dr Brenna to Angourie Road Veterinary Surgery!

Dr Brenna started working with us in January this year, and in a short time, she has become an indispensible team member here. She embodies all our core values here at ARVS - compassionate care, education, kindness, humility, collaboration and excellence - as well as bringing an absolute banging music playlist to the treatment room!

Dr Brenna grew up on a cattle farm in Bonalbo, NSW, which fostered her lifelong passion for animals and rural communities. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 2020 and spent the past four years in mixed practice in Goondiwindi, QLD, where she worked with small animals and cattle. Dr Brenna has a strong interest in medicine and diagnostics, and solid surgical skills.

We are so fortunate to recieve so many beautiful cards, notes, and messages from our clients. Every single one is kept. Every. One.

On days that are tough, it helps to pull out a box of thankyou notes and remember all our beautiful patients and people that we have been able to help over the years. It reminds us of why we do what we do, and we are so very grateful and humbled by all these messages.

From the very bottom of our hearts, thank you for each and every one of these messages. It matters more than you know.

And yet there's something about a hand-drawn doggo picture from kids that really truly underscores how lucky we are, to be trusted with beloved pets. We understand the gravity of this trust and are truly appreciative.

Thankyou.
