The story of Bigga 🤍
Bigga came into our care as a tiny juvenile and quickly became a much-loved member of the Illawarra Animal Hospital family.
Over time, he grew into such a character, forming a special bond with our team and winning over everyone who met him.
Last year, Bigga developed a mass which was investigated with a fine needle aspirate (FNA), a simple, minimally invasive test where a small sample of cells is collected from a lump and examined under the microscope. This helped us diagnose cancer.
Bigga underwent surgery to remove the tumour and recovered well initially, but sadly the cancer later spread.
Cases like Bigga’s are a reminder of how important it is to investigate any new lumps or changes early, even in our reptile patients.
Bigga was so loved by our team right until the very end, and his loss is deeply felt by everyone here.
Bigga will always have a special place in our hearts 🦎🤍
