Charles Ledger Show 2026
It was a wonderful end to a very uplifting Showing Season in NSW for Giaginye Alpacas on the weekend. Our show team were really hitting their straps, and we were so thrilled that our breeding program is moving forward and producing the results we hoped for.
We took a large team for us, of 14 animals, including a Sotaycam boy and a couple of shared boys, as Sophia couldn't be there.
From the judging of fleeces on Friday, to the Sires Progeny on the Sunday, Judge Rubey Williams was thorough, informative, and entertaining. Everyone went home with good feedback, which after all , is the reason you take an animal to a show.
Many thanks must go to the Parker family for their effort in the organization of the show, and to the MC John Hay, Chief Steward and Marshall, Shane Read, and everyone who helped in any way.The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, which made for some great conversation over the weekend, and I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to everyone who either held animals for us, or took one into the ring. I will definitely bring some more family support the next time we try to show such a large team! The Best of Colour section, in particular was a total head spin.

Giaginye Murphy's Law- 1st. Adult Black Male.
Giaginye Sweet Desire-1st. Junior Black Female
Giaginye Poppet- 1st. Junior Grey Female, Best Grey Huacaya.
Giaginye Moonchaser- 1st.Junior Grey Male
Giaginye / Sotaycam Sharpshooter- 1st. Junior Brown Male, Best Brown Huacaya.
Giaginye Maurice- 1st. Intermediate Light Fawn Male, and Reserve Champion Intermediate Male
Giaginye Helios-1st. Junior Medium/Dark Fawn Male,
Giaginye Lucy in the Sky- 1st. Junior Light Fawn Female.
Giaginye Trojan- 1st. Junior Roan Male
We showed Sotaycam Magnate for his owner, and he received- 1st. Intermediate Fancy Male, Champion Intermediate Male, and Best Fancy Huacaya.

Driving home happy and tired after a wonderful 3 days of fun, friends and fabulous results at the National Alpaca Show. Huge thanks for the expertise of the judging, and the awesome effort of the convenors and everyone involved in putting on the spectacle that it was. There was definitely something for everyone, including the large variety of Trade Stalls and activities such as the Auction, the Soiree, and the Paint'n'Sip evening.
We are over the moon with our Fleece Show result- Giaginye Mr Brightside winning his Intermediate Class, Best White, Champion Intermediate Fleece, and Supreme Champion Huacaya Fleece. He was also awarded Grand Champion Fleece at the Show. We did shed a few tears!
Our Junior White Male-Giaginye Maurice also received a 4th place ribbon in a very prestigious field of 14.He certainly surprised us.
Our little Junior Grey Female -Giaginye Poppet won her class and our Intermediate Black Male, Murphy's Law also won his. No ribbons for our other two team members, but in the elite company at this show, you can't expect it.

We had such a great time over the weekend, and we head home to begin the chores, but still on a high. Thanks Bendigo. Really hope to see you again next year!

Winter is well and truly here, after a very mild beginning, but our hearts were warm over the weekend, celebrating Christmas in July at our Carnival of Colour Alpaca Show in Goulburn.
Thanks to everyone involved in helping with absolutely everything, from set-up to clean up! You all know who you are, and too many people to name individually. Deb and I couldn't have done it without you all.
Thank you to our esteemed judge Natasha Clark, and her apprentice Katy Armson-Graham for your appraisals. After all, that's the reason we enter our animals.The knowledge we gain helps us to shape our breeding programs! We also had a lot of fun with other breeders and the Christmas theme in general.
Giaginye Alpacas enjoyed a very successful weekend, with all of our animals taking home a ribbon. Our results were:

Giaginye Murphy's Law- 1st Intermediate Black Male, Champion Black Male and Supreme Black Huacaya.

Giaginye Jedi Knight-1st. Junior Black Male and Reserve Champion Black Male.

Giaginye Posh- 1st. Intermediate Black Female and Champion Black Female.

Giaginye/Sotaycam Heathcliffe- 1st. Adult Black Male.

Giaginye Poppet- 2nd. Junior Grey Female and Reserve Champion Grey Female.

Giaginye Trojan -1st. Junior Roan Male and Reserve Champion Roan Male.

Giaginye Mr. Brightside-1st. White Adult Male.

Giaginye Sweet Desire-1st. Junior Black Female.

What a way to end a beautiful autumn day

Just arrived home after a wonderful few days at Sydney Royal. Very tired, but very happy. Thank you to everyone involved in the organisation of every aspect of it. There are too many to name, but thank you all. A special thank you to international judge, Roger Clarke, whose dedication to ensuring every competitor received feedback, regardless of whether or not they received a ribbon, was truly amazing, and so very appreciated.
Our black boys, Giaginye Jedi Knight, and Giaginye Murphy's Law both received a 1st place in their classes. Giaginye Sotaycam Heathcliffe was 2nd to Murphy. Murphy went on to become Champion Black Male, and then Supreme Black Huacaya of the show.
Not to be outdone, our White Adult Male, Mr. Brightside's flleece was judged Most Commercially Valuable Huacaya Fleece of the show! So exciting for us! So now it's back to the chores, and reality, but these highlights will live in our memories for a long time to come.

So very proud of our White Adult Male, Giaginye Mr. Brightside, at Sydney Royal Easter Show. His fleece was judged Most Valuable Commercial Huacaya Fleece, as well as Champion White Huacaya Fleece! Something we never thought we could achieve as small breeders. We're just over the moon!
Our black boy, Giaginye Knightly also impressed with his big win in the Black Huacaya Fleece section, taking out Champion Black Fleece for 2026.
