Bit of a different post from me but a topic I feel strongly about.
If your horse is right for you, forget the rest..
Over the last few weeks I’ve noticed an influx of negativity in the horse community. Many have felt quite deflated and at times quite overwhelmed by the unwanted opinions of others regarding training methods, conformation issues or the what you “should do” and “shouldn’t do”..
This owning a horse thing is definitely not for the faint hearted and is 💯 a roller coaster of both physical and mental emotions.
Can we please get back to lifting each other up, supporting and celebrating each others little wins 💫
I’ve shared this video of our boy who has an odd gait because of a club foot:
Did it stop us buying him ❌
Does it cause him pain ❌
Is he lame ❌
Are we going to Olympics ❌
Does he still live his best life ✅
Does he do what we intended ✅
Is he one of the best horses we’ve ever owned ✅
I call his club foot his little nemo flipper 😂 we wouldn’t change him for the world.
My point is - he’s not the fanciest, expensively bred, best behaved, conformed horse about - but he doesn’t have to be.
We love him because he’s kept both my daughter and I safe and able to enjoy our riding - solo or in groups, he’s done endurance, loves the bush, the beach, been to clinics, he’s happiest out and about & pretty easy to manage. That’s all we want and need.
To anyone out there reading this that’s currently second guessing their horse journey, please stay true to yourself and your beliefs. Block out the noise, you will find your people and your village.
There’s a reason that horse is in your world.
