Pre-Visit Pharmaceuticals (PVPs). Fancy name, simple goal — helping your pet feel a little less worried about coming to see us!🐾

For some pets, visiting the vet can be overwhelming. New smells, unfamiliar faces, being handled and sometimes having things done that they don’t particularly enjoy. And while we have plenty of treats, toys and cuddles up our sleeves, sometimes a little extra help goes a long way.

PVPs are medications prescribed to help reduce fear, anxiety and stress before a visit. They’re not about simply making your pet sleepy or easier for us to handle. They’re about helping your pet feel more comfortable, giving them a better experience and hopefully building more positive associations with vet visits over time.

And something we’d really love our clients to understand...

If we suggest PVPs for your pet, it’s never simply a quick fix or a way to make an appointment easier for us. It’s a recommendation we’ve given genuine thought to, based on your pet’s individual needs, behaviour and previous experiences.
We don’t take these recommendations lightly. We recognise that every pet is different, and sometimes medication is just one small part of a much bigger plan to help them feel safe and supported.
And importantly, it’s a conversation, not an expectation.

You don’t have to say yes to PVPs simply because we’ve suggested them. We want to share what we’ve noticed, explain why we feel they might benefit your pet, and give you the opportunity to ask questions, share your thoughts and make an informed decision together. Our hope is always to improve their experience, not just for their next visit, but for all the visits still to come. 💙

We want to know what works for YOUR pet! 🐾

Maybe you’ve been working on a particular training technique at home that you’d love us to continue during their consult. Maybe your pet prefers not to be offered treats or needs a little extra space. Or perhaps there’s something we’ve done in a previous visit that you’d love us to do differently next time.
Please tell us. We won’t be offended. We promise! 💙
You know your pet better than anyone, and we believe the best veterinary experiences happen when we work together!

It’s not often we manage to have all three of our wonderful vets in the clinic at the same time, so of course we had to capture the moment! 📸🐾

We’re also taking this opportunity to wish Dr Dave a very happy and well-deserved holiday! ☀️

We’ll certainly miss having him around the clinic, but we hope he enjoys every minute of his time away. We’ll see you when you’re back, Dr Dave! ❤️

A little note about paying for those precious paws 🐾

From 1 October, there’s no card surcharge at Prestige. One less extra on your bill, and we honestly love that for you!

The card processing fees do still exist, though. They’ve simply shifted into our basket…

As a small, independently owned clinic, we’d much rather put our money back into our clinic and our people than into the bank’s treat fund. These fees really do add up, so if cash or bank transfer is convenient for you, we’d be very grateful.

Prefer to tap and go? Absolutely fine. You’re just as welcome, and your dog will receive exactly the same number of treats. Negotiated directly with your dog, obviously.

Thank you for supporting our little clinic and the people who love looking after your family. 🫶

With love,
The Prestige Vets team

P.S. We did ask the cats to comment. They declined 🙀

Happy Vet Nurse Day to the heart and soul of Prestige🐾💙🥳

If you could see what we see and know what we know, you’d understand why we will never stop singing the praises of our incredible nursing team✨

Nurse Jules, Nurse Sally, Nurse Livy, Nurse Claire and Nurse Bob, with a special mention to Bel, whose years of active nursing have now transformed her into our admin guru, and our trainee nurses Ash and Izzy.

Vet nursing is not for the faint-hearted or the easily perturbed, and here at Prestige we are graced with those we consider to be the absolute best.

Between them, our nurses bring decades of experience and an extraordinary depth of knowledge into this little clinic. They are deeply committed and constantly strive to be at the top of their game in anaesthesia, pain management, behaviour and Fear Free care, medications, diagnostics, nutrition, wound care, surgical nursing, emergency care, chronic disease, rehabilitation and preventative health.

It never really stops.

They never really stop.

They advocate fiercely, hold enormous responsibility, and are determined to achieve the very best outcome for every one of their patients and every one of their families.

They read. They learn. They question. They care. They cry. They carry an exceptional emotional load. They carry us.

They teach, mentor, troubleshoot, comfort and remember all while delivering the most exceptional nursing in the truest sense of the word.

And they are relentless advocates for their patients, your pets.

To our beautiful nursing team: thank you for all you do and all you are. You are not only the greatest gift to us, but to every single patient lucky enough to be in your care.

Happy Vet Nurse Day, you glorious bunch. You are indeed the cat’s pyjamas 🐱

We are enormously grateful to have each and every one of you on this journey with us.

Jayney and Sare xx💙

🐾 The Tales (Tails) of Jensen & George 🐾
Veterinary professionals by day…Owners asking “WHAT HAVE YOU EATEN?!” by night😆
We have a confession…
The Prestige team currently has TWO adolescent Labradors amongst our team families, Jensen and George and this week both have independently reminded us that:
“Don’t eat that” is apparently just a loose suggestion when you’re a Labrador.
Wallaby poo.
An entire toad(dead but still!)
And basically anything else accessible during a brief lapse in adult supervision.
The result? 💩
After a couple of glamorous days of very runny tummies and treatment, George proudly produced this absolute statement piece of a poo, concrete evidence that things were finally, quite literally, firming up😂
And there is something wonderfully humbling about it.
Because despite all our veterinary knowledge, experience and excellent advice…
We are just pet owners too.
We clean up diarrhoea.
We panic about what they’ve eaten.
We lose all rationale and just panic!
We inspect poo with an enthusiasm that would concern non-medical people.
And occasionally, we photograph one and share it proudly in the team chat.
So to all our Prestige families dealing with pets making questionable life choices:
We see you. We understand. And sometimes… we’re right there beside you holding the poo bag💜💩

🦷 Dental disease in 60 seconds!

Check out what Dr Sarah has to say about dental disease and why keeping on top of your pet’s dental health is so important.

And yes… if you listen closely….you can hear a very enthusiastic squeaky toy in the background😂 One of our patients was busy enjoying their consult in the room next door, and we think the soundtrack adds a little extra joy to the video 🐾💙

Have a question about your pet’s teeth? Just send us a text or we can organise a nurse consult to take a closer look!

Mango first came to us as the tiniest little puppy and an incredibly unwell one💙

Her prognosis was very guarded, and there was a time when reaching her first birthday felt unlikely. Michelle was determined to give Mango the very best life possible, for however long that might be. Her commitment to Mango’s care and quality of life, alongside specialist care and plenty of teamwork, helped carry her through those incredibly uncertain early days.

This week, Mango turned FOUR🎂

She’s grown up with Prestige and is now an absolute chaotic Frenchie — happy, deeply loved and very much living her best life. Mango’s family shared some pictures with us this week.

Sometimes the outcome you barely dared to hope for becomes the one you get to celebrate.
Happy 4th Birthday, Mango. What a special little story you are✨

💙 The privilege of being part of the journey 🐾

When a pet needs a procedure, it’s never just a surgery. For their family, there can be worry leading up to the day, lots of questions, the nervous wait while their pet is with us, and then the recovery that follows at home.

Being trusted to support both a pet and their family through that journey is something we never take for granted.

There’s a lot of joy in the little moments along the way. Helping a nervous patient settle in, keeping their family updated, seeing them comfortably wake up after their procedure.

For us, caring for our patients also means caring for the people who love them. Being able to offer reassurance, guidance and a familiar face throughout what can be an overwhelming time is something we really value.

To every family who places their trust in us during these moments, thank you. It truly means a lot to our team. 💙

There’s something pretty special about the bond we share with our animals 🐾❤️

They’re our companions, our comfort, our entertainment, and often the first face we see in the morning and the one waiting for us when we come home. They’re there for the big moments, the quiet moments, and all the ordinary days in between.
As a veterinary team, we’re lucky enough to see the human–animal bond every day.

We see it in the worried phone calls, the little kisses during an examination, the favourite treats brought along to appointments, and the enormous relief when a much-loved pet starts feeling like themselves again.
Caring for animals is at the heart of what we do, but we also recognise that behind every patient is someone who loves them deeply. It’s a privilege to be trusted with a small part of that relationship. 🐶🐱🐰❤️

Now we’d love to celebrate your bond.

📸 Share a favourite photo of you and your pet in the comments and tell us a little about what makes your bond special.

We’d love to fill the comments with the wonderful animals—and humans—we’re lucky enough to know. 🐾
