Saturday seen a trip across to Sunbry, VIC assessing and treating a variance of horses. Some in work, some out of work, from barrel horses to eventing horses to a cart horse. All with varying expectations of their bodies but not willing to compromise the required movement to win.
I really enjoy being around people who are aware of their horses movemnt and getting real time feedback of any changes post treatment.
Usually it is always a mental difference fitst. A willingness or acceptance of what is asked of them sometimes as simple as catching them.

Bodywork is severely underrated, its about finding the right person and the right modality that suits your horse for the results you want. If it ain't working then find someone else. I certainly know I don't suit some certain horses and even owners but at the end of the day I'd rather see the horse being treated by someone else than not at all.

Have a great long weekend, the count down is on for the shortest day of the year then it's on!! Gain a minute a day after that!!

How much does it really cost to trim a horse?

When you pay for a hoof trim, you're paying for far more than the 30 minutes spent underneath your horse.

There are the obvious costs:
• Trimming tools and equipment
• Fuel and vehicle expenses
• Insurances
• Superannuation
• Continuing education and networking
(meeting people such as Dynamic Hoof Care)
• Fly spray, sunscreen and consumables
• Topicals for hoof health concerns such as thrush
•AND THEN A WAGE

For me, the cost of gear and vehicle use alone for a simple 25km round trip is approximately $32.00 per horse — and that's before a wage, superannuation, my own body maintenance, education, insurances, administration, or the building of experience required to make informed decisions about your horse's feet.

Behind every trim is time spent studying, learning, travelling, record keeping, scheduling appointments, answering messages, maintaining equipment and continually improving skills to provide the best possible service.

You're investing in your horse's hoof health, wellbeing, comfort and performance ultimately extending the TIME of having a sound horse and REDUCING potential vet bills.

Hooves are the foundation of the horse. If that foundation isn't balanced, functional and developing correctly, how can we expect the body—and ultimately the mind—to perform at the level we ask of them?

Good hoof care isn't just an expense; it's an investment in every ride, every training session, every competition and every ADDED year of soundness your horse has ahead of them.

So great to see so much interest!
Its unfortunate that one day will never suit everyone but I do see this as a small community to build your horses with. Whether it's monthly or quarterly catch ups and development with your horses getting out and about all while doing maintenance mobility work. It will only progress you on your journey and surround you with like minded people.
Competition doesn't have to mean sacrificing your horse for the win, get there together and willingly!

Offering to current bodywork clients- Barefoot trims

•5 weekly schedule
•Currently studying a Diploma in Equine Podiotherapy
•Discount for multiple horses (get your friends together and take advantage)
* Currently under guidance and mentorship with a master farrier (who mostly shoes poly shoes and barefoot trims)

The goal is to balance feet in order to balance the body. Unfortunately many people wish for major improvements in the horses performance whether chasing cows or trail riding and are unable to stick to a schedule for trims.

Get in touch if you are wanting your horse on the books for trims as I only have limited availability. I don't want to commit to people I can not continue to service.

🌱 Grass tips

It's far from perfection, my nails need to be slightly higher, the pictures were taken part way through the process so bars not cleared etc but I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Less concussion, ability to modify, comfortability, allow the hoof to function correctly by flexing and having the ability to develop soft tissue.

Case study will start at the end of the year so if you have a horse that you are considering swapping to polys or transitioning to barefoot I'm looking for specific categories of horses to finish the diploma 🙌

Back from a week away at the College of Equine Podiotherapy. Nailing polys, laminitis, deformities... Been an interesting time away! A slower paced winter ahead for us here at E.H.T. which I'm certainly looking forward to after the first few months being so hectic!
