A timely reminder from the team at PIRSA for keeping our pets safe!

🐶🐱 Overseas outbreaks show us that cats and dogs can be infected with H5 bird flu, but this usually occurs due to contact with sick or dead birds.

There are simple steps owners can take to reduce the risk:
✅ Place dogs on a lead when out for a walk, especially in wildlife areas
✅ Prevent cats from roaming (this also keeps our wildlife safe)
✅Ensure food and water is out of reach of wild birds.
✅ Monitor your pet's health and seek veterinary advice if they're unwell
