Happy Veterinary Receptionist Week to the real MVPs of the clinic 🐾💕
If you’ve ever called us in a mild panic, arrived five minutes late (we see you 👀), or needed a last-minute appointment squeezed in… chances are you’ve already met the magic behind the desk.
Lainie, Avril, and our newest friendly face Kaitlyn (our Mannum receptionist extraordinaire!) are the calm in the chaos, the masters of multitasking, and the reason both our Mannum and Woodside clinics run smoother than a freshly groomed floof.
From cuddling nervous pets to juggling phones, bookings, and the occasional “my dog ate WHAT?!” moment — they truly do it all.

Meet Squeaky Pete 🐾 (yes, he will live up to the name)

At 5 months old, Pete has two main hobbies:

Causing chaos (the cute kind)
Providing loud, unsolicited feedback on absolutely everything
He’s a professional conversationalist — whether it’s breakfast being 3 minutes late, a closed door (unacceptable), or just reminding you he exists… again… and again.

✔️ Believes your house already belongs to him

Squeaky Pete is equal parts zoomies, smooches, and “why are you in my chair?” energy. He’s looking for a home that appreciates a kitten with opinions and isn’t afraid of a little (constant) commentary.

🚨 **FOUND: Extremely Handsome Criminal (Charges: Being Too Friendly)** 🚨

This young, entire male cat was discovered lurking behind Lobethal Foodland… presumably running some sort of snack-based operation 🍗

Since arriving at the clinic, he has:
• Befriended every human within a 5km radius
• Promoted himself to Head of Customer Relations
• Assumed all laps, desks, and keyboards belong to him
• Displayed absolutely zero shame about anything

He’s in great condition, outrageously affectionate, and clearly VERY experienced in winning people over (we suspect this is not his first rodeo).

If you are missing a confident little charmer who thinks strangers exist purely to admire him, please get in touch before he successfully adopts an entirely new family.

We’re so sorry, but our after-hours service won’t be available for the rest of this evening. We’ll be back bright and early at the clinic from 8:30am tomorrow morning, ready to care for your furry family members.

Big news from 🐾
Our Mannum crew has been working hard behind the scenes, and we’ve got something to share…
From April 13th, our Mannum Veterinary Clinic will be open 4 days a week! 🎉
That’s right—more chances for tail wags, treat negotiations, and cats pretending they’ve never been here before.
🕘 New hours:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday: 9am–5pm
(Thursday, Saturday & Sunday: reserved for naps… mostly ours 😴)
We’re also launching our new Mannum phone number:

If we’re busy wrangling a wiggly patient or giving out extra belly rubs, your call will be diverted to our Woodside clinic—because someone will always be there to help (even if your dog just ate something “mysterious”).

We were surprised to see our Mannum clinic featured in a recent campaign post by the Animal Justice Party regarding affordable veterinary care.
While we absolutely agree that access to veterinary care is an important issue, we want to clarify that we were not contacted prior to this visit, nor did we give consent for our clinic to be photographed or used in campaign material. The suggestion that our clinic may not be affordable or accessible to the Mannum community is something we find both inaccurate and disappointing.
Our team at Vet in the Hills is deeply committed to supporting the local community and the animals in our care. We work hard every day to provide compassionate, practical options for clients facing financial pressure, and we are proud of the relationships we have built with the people of Mannum and surrounding areas.
We would be very happy to sit down with the candidate to discuss how veterinary practices actually operate on the ground, the ways we already support our community, and to have a constructive conversation about improving access to veterinary care.
However, we respectfully ask that our clinic not be used in political campaigning or messaging without our knowledge or consent.

🐾 Puppy Preschool – Mannum (Expressions of Interest) 🐾

We already run our much-loved Puppy Preschool in Woodside, and we’re thinking it might be time for the Mannum puppies to have their turn too!

If your household currently includes a small, fluffy landshark aged **8–14 weeks**, this might be just the thing.

Our classes are kept intentionally tiny (just **4–5 puppies**) so there’s plenty of time for learning… and managing the occasional case of zoomies.

📅 5 weekly sessions
🐶 Puppies aged **8–14 weeks**
👥 4–5 puppies per class
💰 **$100 for the full 5-week course**

We’ll cover all the important puppy life skills – socialisation, basic training, confidence building, and helping your puppy grow into a well-mannered member of society (or at least slightly less chaotic).

At this stage we’re just taking **expressions of interest** to see if there are enough tiny troublemakers in the Mannum area to start a class.

As much as we’d love to be superhero vets for every pet, everywhere, all the time… our **out of hours services are for our existing clients only**.

Why, you ask?
👉 Because we need access to your pet’s medical history (guessing is not a recognised veterinary skill).
👉 Because our team is small, human, and occasionally requires sleep, food, and family time.
👉 Because providing safe, high-quality care works best when we already know you and your furry (or not-so-furry) family member.

⏰ **Out of hours availability (unless otherwise arranged):**

If you’re one of our lovely existing clients and need urgent help outside normal hours, please follow our usual contact process and we’ll do our best to assist.
