Today is National Animal Rights Day!🐾❤️

Today we honour the billions of animals whose lives are affected by human choices and recognize their right to live free from suffering, exploitation, and harm.

Every animal is someone, not something. Whether they are companions in our homes, wildlife in nature, or animals raised for food, they all share the capacity to feel pain, joy, fear, and love.

National Animal Rights Day is a time to reflect on the world we want to create - one built on compassion, respect, and justice for all beings.

Each of us has the power to make a difference through our daily choices, our voices, and our actions. Together, we can help build a future where animals are valued for who they are, not for what they can provide.

- Speak up.
- Choose compassion.
- Be their voice.

Psssst! Plans are underway to make NARD happen in Canberra in 2027!! 😍

THE BRUMBY MASSACRES WILL CONTINUE IN LESS THAN 2 DAYS 💔

On June 9, NSW Environment Minister Penny Sharpe has ordered the commencement of the brumby aerial cull in Kosciuszko National Park.

These aerial shootings lead to inhumane deaths and suffering for thousands of brumbies and their foals. Shots are not always immediately fatal, which can leave animals injured and suffering for prolonged periods.

It is important to note that while conservation is used to justify these culls, the NSW Government continues to approve large-scale land clearing and environmental destruction for development and infrastructure projects.

Brumby populations can be managed through fertility control and other humane measures that do not result in the suffering and deaths of thousands of beautiful horses that form an important part of Australia’s heritage.

There isn’t much time left. The NSW Government and Penny Sharpe MLC should be held accountable for this cruel and unnecessary slaughter.

📣 HOW TO HELP 📣

1. Email your local MP (draft in the comments)
2. Email NSW Premier Chris Minns (draft in the comments).
3. Sign the petition demanding the aerial culls be suspended: https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/la/Pages/epetition-details.aspx?q=BmohXScSptUiwqbMm5kfBg

One day left until the shooting begins.

Sections of the park will be closed. Helicopters will darken the clear blue sky. The crack of gunshots will ring out. Horses will run in terror. They will be shot from above, unable to escape. Unable to save their mob. They will be shot in the back, in their sides, left to bleed out slowly. Not even pregnant mares will be spared this fate.

There is no humane way to do this.

The AJP's Emma Hurst has fought tirelessly against this. She chaired a NSW Upper House inquiry into the aerial shooting program, hearing from hundreds of community members and examining evidence that the brumby population had been significantly overstated by the government all along.

Animals cannot vote. They cannot lobby. They cannot speak in parliament. But we can — and right now, Emma Hurst is one of the very few voices in any parliament in this country who will.

Please add your voice to the masses crying out for a more humane solution and sign Emma's petition.

It may feel like it's too late but this isn't the first time this has happened.
And if we don't speak up, it won't be the last.

Only 4 days left until the killing of brumbies begins. You can stop this! In 4 easy steps. Please do all if not some or even one action to stop the ‘cull’.

1. Sign the petition https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/la/Pages/ePetition-details.aspx?q=BmohXScSptUiwqbMm5kfBg.

2. Write to Premier Chris Minns https://www.nsw.gov.au/nsw-government/premier-of-nsw/contact-premier.

3. Write to your local state Member of Parliament .

4. Write to Penny Sharpe MP https://www.nsw.gov.au/nsw-government/ministers/minister-environment-heritage

Express your opposition to this cull. Silence does not end animal cruelty. Your voice does! Please write in the comments what you have done to encourage others and get the algorithm to work for us.

Let’s not forget the fact that 2.5- 3 million people visit the same area where the Brumbies reside every year. How many brumbies are there for comparison? An estimate of 10,000?
