River Country Animal Emergency Centre is not able to offer a service at the moment due to an inability to find enough full time, part time or casual vets. We are shut indefinitely at this stage and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Although our vision and mission was to be there at night, to provide exceptional emergency and critical care, on weeknights and weekends when GP practices are shut, it has become a sad reality that this may not be a service that can continue in this region. Without vets willing to come into this region and work these kind of after hours shifts we are not able to remain open. Australia is experiencing a severe nationwide vet shortage and with our international borders being shut due to COVID, we are now facing the harsh reality of this situation and as such we have been forced to make a very hard decision to close our doors for the foreseeable future 😔
Your regular vets will be providing an afterhours service and will be doing their very best to service all their clients. Please be patient if you are needing to call an afterhours vet into the clinic at night or on the weekends, often they will have worked hard all day as part of their day job, and then are having to be on call through the night as well as needing to turn up for work the next day. Please be kind and understanding of these dedicated professionals who are all doing their very best to provide an emergency service over the next few months.
