Today is Vet Nurse Day, and we’re celebrating the wonderful nurses who put so much skill, care and heart into Wilston Vet.

They’re monitoring your pet’s anaesthetic, noticing the smallest changes during recovery, keeping you updated and finding time for an extra cuddle when the world feels a little unfamiliar. 🐾

Double trouble: the dental edition 🐶🐶🦷

“We do everything together. Walks. Mischief. Apparently, dental appointments.

Our strategy? Deploy the puppy eyes. Secure the cuddles. Make sure the other one isn’t getting more attention.

As you can see, negotiations went well.” 😏

These two partners in crime both visited Wilston Vet for dental procedures, bringing twice the fluff and plenty of personality! 💙

During a professional dental procedure, a general anaesthetic allows us to thoroughly assess the teeth and gums and clean above and below the gumline, helping keep little mouths healthy and comfortable.

The mischief, however, remains completely untreated. 😇

😂 Not all heroes wear capes… some wear scrubs and carry Vet Wrap.

Many of our clients know and love the iconic giraffes that have stood outside Wilston Vet for years. 🦒❤️

Unfortunately, one of our poor giraffes recently suffered a rather serious injury — the tip of his tail fell off! 😳

This left behind a surprisingly pointy tail and, naturally, we couldn’t have an untreated patient standing right outside a veterinary clinic…

So Dr Andrea sprang into action. 🩺

A quick examination, some padding and a very professional blue bandage later, and our patient is stable while he awaits definitive tail repair. 😂

Diagnosis: Traumatic tail-tip amputation
Treatment: Protective bandage
Prognosis: Excellent, pending giraffe surgeon availability
Patient behaviour: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — stood perfectly still for the entire procedure.

Just another completely normal day at Wilston Vet. 🦒💙

No giraffes were harmed in the making of this post. 😅
