Who remembers the beautiful Cap D’ail we had in pre-training earlier this year back in Sydney?

Second run this prep, and he is improving massively with each run. Last preparation, he failed to finish—so throughout his pre-training, our focus has been on keeping him sound and teaching him to use his body correctly.

He is still learning his craft, but an exciting prospect for my client!

Check out this before & after on Snazzy! 🤩

What a difference just a few rides can make.

The first video was Snazzy when he arrived, and the second is after only a handful of rides with us. He’s starting to understand how to accept the contact, use his body correctly and find a much more balanced, comfortable way of going.

Still very early days, but we’re pretty excited about the progress this little guy is making. 💙

Sometimes they don’t need to be written off — they just need a little time, patience and the right approach.

🤍 An appreciation post for our lead pony. 🤍

At 16 years young, Midas has been an invaluable asset to our team and is worth his weight in gold.

From standing quietly alongside breakers taking their first steps in the round yard, to giving young horses confidence throughout their pre-training, Midas does it all with patience and reliability.

He’s the steady head, the confidence giver and the horse we can count on time and time again.

The good lead ponies are worth their weight in gold, and we’re incredibly lucky to have Midas as part of the Jera team. 🐴✨

Midas is nearing retirement so he is teaching the ropes to Vence.

Client pony Snazzy 🤍

Snazzy has previously been to the breakers twice, with his owners unfortunately being told he was “no good”.

Well… we have to disagree. We think Snazzy is pretty great! 🙌

He’s currently learning to soften and accept the bit and will be completely remouthed as part of his education. There’s still plenty for him to learn, but what a cracking start he has made already!

Sometimes they don’t need to be written off — they just need a little more time, patience and a different approach. 🐴✨

We’re looking forward to seeing this little guy continue to progress.

Meet Vence 🤎

Vence is a 6-year-old gelding by Kermadec, who had 13 starts on the track for 1 win and 1 minor placing.

Now retired from racing, Vence is beginning a very different chapter with us as he starts his education to become a lead pony.

With our current lead pony turning 16 this year, we’ve been searching for the right horse to eventually step into what is such an important role within our team. A good lead pony is worth their weight in gold — providing confidence, company and guidance to the young and inexperienced horses coming through.

Vence has the temperament and attitude we’ve been looking for, and we’re excited to take our time developing him into the role.

From racehorse to hopefully guiding the next generation of racehorses — we think he’s found himself a pretty special job. 🐎✨
