πŸΎπŸ’— Meet the insanely cute little Willow! πŸ’—πŸΎ

This gorgeous little girl visited us this week for her final puppy vaccination β€” and she was an absolute superstar! πŸŒŸπŸ’‰

Willow was super brave for her big girl vaccination and, of course, received ALL the cuddles from our team afterwards! πŸ₯°πŸΆπŸ’•

And the best part? We’re not saying goodbye just yet! πŸ‘πŸΌ We’ll be seeing Willow for her regular monthly weigh-ins, where we can keep an eye on her growth, continue her Simparica Trio all-in-one parasite protection, and most importantly… provide plenty more cuddles! 😍

These regular puppy visits are so much more than just a weigh-in. πŸΎπŸ’— They’re an important part of helping young puppies build confidence and positive associations with the vet clinic.

We want Willow to learn that the vet is a fun, safe and happy place β€” not just somewhere she gets poked and prodded when she’s sick or needs a vaccination! 🩺🐢✨

By creating lots of positive experiences from the very beginning, we can help set our little patients up for a lifetime of happier, less stressful vet visits. πŸ’•πŸΎ

We can’t wait to watch this gorgeous girl grow! πŸ₯ΉπŸ’—

Welcome to the family, Willow! 🐢✨

🦷✨ DENTAL MONTH IS HERE! ✨🦷

Meet beautiful Coco! πŸ’• This gorgeous girl came in for her dental procedure and was an absolute superstar from beginning to end! πŸ₯°

Take a look at her before and after photos, along with one of her vet Dr Laura doing dental X-rays β€” it’s amazing what can be hiding beneath those pearly whites! 🦷🩻

Dental disease is about so much more than bad breath. It can cause significant pain and discomfort, and if left untreated, can have a serious impact on your pet’s overall health and wellbeing.

🩻 That’s why ALL of our dental procedures include full-mouth dental X-rays!

So much dental disease happens below the gumline where we simply can’t see it during an examination. Dental X-rays help us identify things like:

🐾 Tooth root infections
🐾 Bone loss and periodontal disease
🐾 Fractured or damaged teeth
🐾 Retained tooth roots
🐾 Other hidden problems that may be causing pain

This means we can make informed decisions about which teeth need treatment and ensure your pet gets the care they need to keep their mouth healthy and comfortable. πŸ’š

πŸŽ‰ OUR DENTAL MONTH SPECIALS ARE ON NOW! πŸŽ‰

🦷 FREE dental checks & estimates
🩻 FREE dental X-rays
πŸ’° 10% OFF your dental procedure
Excludes blood tests and other additional services.

And if you’re looking for even more value, why not join ThrivingPets Wellness Plan? 🌟 Members can enjoy further discounts on dental procedures and pre-anaesthetic blood tests, along with all the other benefits of being a ThrivingPets member.

Meet Gus... the lovable Boxer with an appetite for adventure! 🐢🧀

Unfortunately, Gus decided that a motorbike glove looked like the perfect snack. While it may have seemed harmless at the time, the glove became lodged in his digestive tract, creating a linear foreign bodyβ€”a serious condition where an object stretches through the intestines and can cause them to bunch up, tear, or even perforate.

After diagnostic imaging confirmed the problem, Gus was taken to surgery. Dr Laura performed both an enterotomy (to remove part of the glove from the intestines) and a gastrotomy (to safely remove the remaining section from the stomach). Thankfully, the surgery was a success, and Gus is now on the road to recovery! ❀️

πŸ’‘ Did you know?
Dogs don't just swallow toys and balls. We regularly see socks, underwear, corn cobs, fishing tackle, rocks... and now, motorbike gloves!

If your dog has swallowed something they shouldn't, don't wait for symptoms to become severe. Early signs can include:
🐾 Vomiting
🐾 Loss of appetite
🐾 Lethargy
🐾 Abdominal pain
🐾 Straining or difficulty passing faeces
If you suspect your pet has eaten a foreign object, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. Prompt treatment can make all the difference.

We're so pleased Gus is recovering well, and we can't wait to see him back to his cheeky self! πŸ’™

Have your pets ever tried to eat something completely unexpected? Tell us in the comments! πŸ‘‡

⚠️ H5 Bird Flu (Avian Influenza) Alert ⚠️

Queensland poultry and bird owners are reminded to stay vigilant and maintain strict biosecurity to help protect our birds from H5 avian influenza (bird flu). πŸ”πŸ¦†πŸ¦

If you come across a sick or dead bird, remember the Avoid, Record, Report rule:

🚫 Avoid – Never touch or pick up sick or dead birds. Keep children and pets well away.

πŸ“ Record – Note the date, time, exact location, and the number of affected birds. If it's safe to do so, take a photo or video from a distance.

πŸ“ž Report – Contact the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888 or Biosecurity Queensland on 13 25 23, especially if you notice unusual signs of illness or multiple dead birds.

If you own poultry or pet birds, you can help reduce the risk by:
βœ… Keeping your birds separated from wild birds using secure housing or netting.
βœ… Protecting feed and water from contamination by wild birds and pests.
βœ… Practising good hygiene by washing your hands before and after handling birds, eggs or equipment, and wearing clean footwear and clothing in bird areas.
βœ… Limiting visitors to your bird enclosures.

By staying alert and following good biosecurity practices, we can all play a part in protecting Queensland's birds, poultry industry and wildlife. πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ₯

😊 5 Minutes with Vet Nurse Izzy 😊

1. If you could be any animal for a day, what would you be and why? 🐾πŸͺ°πŸŒΈ

🦈 A hammerhead shark! I'd love the chance to explore the incredible depths of the ocean and see all the amazing marine life up close.

2. What's the most unusual or memorable case you've ever seen? πŸ€”πŸ©Ί

🐷 One of my most memorable cases was nursing a tiny piglet with tick paralysis. I learnt how to tube feed her, and after lots of care and determination, she pulled through! Coming from a shelter nursing background, I've been lucky enough to help with all sorts of unique and rewarding cases.

3. Do you have any pets? Tell us about them! πŸΆπŸ±πŸ’•

🐾 I have two Labradoodles, Milo and Gerry, plus an American Bulldog named Verdi. They're a crazy bunch who love beach adventures and long walks whenever Mum has the time! πŸŒŠπŸ•
❀️ Verdi is my ultimate foster failβ€”I took her in when she was just one week old and couldn't let her go.
🐱 I also recently rescued my sweet old man, Crinkle, from the shelter. He's full of love and absolutely adores wearing a jumper (or even dressing up!) when the weather gets chilly.

4. What made you want to work in the veterinary industry? 🩺🐾❀️

πŸ’š I've always had a passion for animals and knew I wanted a career where I could help them every single day.

5. What's your guilty pleasure outside of work? β˜•πŸ›οΈ

πŸ’ƒ You'll usually find me curled up with a good book... or dancing whenever I get the chance!

6. And the most important question of all time... Pineapple on pizza? πŸ•πŸ

❌ Absolutely not! πŸ˜†

πŸš—πŸΆ Road tripping with your best mate? Make safety your first stop! πŸΎπŸ’™

Whether you're heading just down the road or off on a big adventure, making sure your dog is safely restrained isn't just the safest optionβ€”it's the law here in Queensland.

βœ… Use a properly fitted harness and tether or a secure transport crate. βœ… Never attach a tether to a collar. βœ… If travelling in the back of a ute, make sure your dog is secured safely to prevent them from falling or jumping out. βœ… Better yet, if possible, travel with your dog safely restrained inside the vehicle. πŸš™β€οΈ

A few extra minutes before you leave can make all the difference in keeping your furry friend safe. πŸ•πŸ’•

If you have any questions about safe travel for your pet, our team is always happy to help! 🩺🐾
