🩵🐾 HAPPY VET NURSE DAY! 🐾🩵

Today we’re celebrating the incredible people who are at the heart of our clinics – our wonderful Veterinary Nurses! 🩺

We truly appreciate everything our nurses do for their patients, clients, teammates and our clinics each and every day. Today is an extra special opportunity to recognise the dedication, compassion and hard work that goes into everything they do. 🩵

Our wonderful nurses dedicate themselves to ensuring every patient feels safe, comfortable and loved while in our care. Whether it’s providing exceptional nursing care, assisting in surgery, comforting a nervous patient or sneaking in a few extra cuddles and kisses, they always go above and beyond for our furry friends! 🐾

Each of our nurses brings their own unique skills, knowledge and personality to our team. They’re incredible multitaskers, always willing to lend a helping hand, share their knowledge and support one another. Their passion for their patients and the love they have for what they do truly shines through every day. 🦋

This year, we’re shining a special spotlight on our amazing West Swan team! The wonderful faces who work behind the scenes, celebrate the little victories, provide comfort during the difficult moments and help make our clinic the special place it is.

To our incredible Veterinary Nurses, Receptionists and Support Staff – thank you for your kindness, dedication, endless patience and the countless little things you do that make such a big difference.

Our clinic simply wouldn’t be what it is today without each and every one of you!

Happy Vet Nurse Day to our wonderful West Swan team and all the amazing Veterinary Nurses across the industry! 🩵🐾

🌼 R U OK? 🌼

Today is a reminder of the importance of checking in with the people around us — because sometimes, a simple “R U OK?” can mean more than we realise. 💛

Working in veterinary medicine is incredibly rewarding, but it also comes with challenges that can take an emotional toll. We care deeply about our patients and their families, and over time, it’s only natural that we become attached to the animals we care for. 🐾

Just like our patients, we need our check-ins too.

Looking after the wellbeing of our Vets, Vet Nurses and Veterinary Support Staff is an important part of creating a healthy and supportive workplace. We believe that taking the time to look after ourselves allows us to continue giving the best care we can to the animals who need us. ⭐️

Sometimes, self-care looks like something simple — walking your dog, cuddling your cat, grooming your horse, spending time outside, or simply taking a moment to breathe. 🌿

We are incredibly lucky to have animals in our lives. They bring us comfort, keep us grounded and remind us why we do what we do every day. 🐴🐶🐱

So today, check in on your friends, your family, your colleagues — and maybe even yourself.

R U OK? 🌻

And remember, behind every set of scrubs is a person who cares deeply too. Please be kind. 💛

Happy World Friendship Day! 🐾

Some of the truest friendships don’t need words - just a wagging tail, a gentle purr, and the comfort of knowing they’re always by your side. Our pets are more than companions; they’re family, confidants, and constant sources of love.

Today we’re celebrating the unbreakable bond we share with them. A friendship like no other. 🐶🐱

Winter can be tough on our senior pets, but a few simple changes can make a big difference in keeping them comfortable and happy. 🐾

❄️ Keep them warm and comfortable with soft bedding and cosy spots away from draughts.

❄️ Gentle daily movement helps maintain mobility - think short walks or light play suited to their pace.

❄️ Support stiff joints with easy home access (like non-slip flooring), and keep an eye on their weight, as extra kilos can add strain.

❄️ Make sure they’re drinking enough water, even in cooler weather.

❄️ Don’t skip regular health checks - early detection is key to keeping them feeling their best. 💛

H5 Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) Update for Pet Owners

You may have seen recent news regarding the detection of H5 Avian Influenza (bird flu) in a wild bird in WA. While this news is concerning, authorities are actively monitoring the situation and working to understand the extent of any spread.

As a pet owner, there are a few simple precautions you can take:

✅ Avoid contact with sick or deceased birds and wildlife
✅ Keep dogs on lead around areas where birds congregate if possible
✅ Prevent pets from investigating, chasing, or scavenging dead wildlife
✅ Wash your hands thoroughly after handling birds or visiting areas with large numbers of wild birds

Signs of avian influenza in wild birds can include:
🐦 Sudden death
🐦 Difficulty standing, flying, or moving normally
🐦 Difficulty breathing, coughing, or sneezing
🐦 Swelling around the eyes, head, or neck
🐦 Neurological signs such as tremors or circling

If you find a sick or deceased bird:
❌ Do not touch or handle it
📸 Take a photo if safe to do so and record the location
📞 Report multiple sick or dead birds to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

At this stage, the risk to the general public remains low, and bird flu does not spread easily from birds to people. Most human cases reported globally have involved close contact with infected animals.

If you have concerns about your pet's health, please contact our team for advice.
