Today we experienced our first big loss 😞

We came home to find one of our tiny baby stick insects had passed away. It’s such a small little life, but it’s left a big feeling in our home. We’re all a bit heartbroken tonight.

As hard as this is, I truly believe it’s part of the journey. With raising and caring for these little ones comes learning, growth, and sometimes loss too.

We’ll keep loving and caring for the rest of our little stick family, holding this one gently in our hearts 💗

Today we thought we had lost one of our freshly hatched stick insect babies. We searched everywhere but she was nowhere to be seen. We know they can hide very well and stay perfectly still for long periods, so we kept hoping she would show up.

Well tonight… She finally came out of hiding.
We found her! Our tiny little stick friend is safe. 🌿

Sometimes the smallest creatures need the biggest hearts. 🧡

Aaliyah recently rescued a few of our little stick insect friends who had lost some of their legs. It’s something that can happen in nature, but instead of leaving them, she decided they deserved a safe home where they could still live peacefully.

Even with missing legs, these amazing little insects keep going — climbing, eating, and living their tiny lives just the same. Nature is incredibly resilient.

Watching Aaliyah care so gently for them reminds me how naturally kind she is. If she could, she would rescue every animal that needed help. 🐛🌿

Our little colony is growing, and every one of them — perfect or imperfect — has a place here.

Welcome to Little Stick Friends 🪵🍃

We are a small family page sharing our journey with Extatosoma tiaratum (Giant Prickly Stick Insects).

Right now we have:
11 stick insects
Eggs waiting to hatch
2 brand new babies

Some of our little ones were rescued and are missing legs, but they are thriving and doing so well.

Follow along as we share updates, photos, care tips and hopefully lots of babies in the future!
