Could your cat be overweight?

It’s Veterinary Nurse Week! 💜🐾

This week we’re shining a light on our veterinary nurses and the many roles they take on every day.

From monitoring anaesthetics and assisting in surgery to taking blood samples and X rays, running laboratory tests, preparing medications, providing nutritional advice and caring for patients throughout their visit, their days are incredibly varied.

They’re there to reassure a nervous pet, support an anxious owner and keep a close eye on patients as they recover. A lot of their work also happens behind the scenes and is an essential part of keeping everything running smoothly.

With Veterinary Nurse Day coming up this Friday, we’re taking the opportunity to recognise everything our nursing team does. 💜🐶🐱

A reminder:

🐦 BIRD FLU HAS BEEN DETECTED IN THE WYNDHAM AREA:

A Greater Crested Tern found in Werribee recently has tested positive for H5 bird flu, confirming a detection in Wyndham. Bird flu continues to be detected in wild birds across Victoria.

🐾 KEEP YOUR PETS AWAY FROM SICK OR DEAD BIRDS

💻 If you find a sick or dead bird or other wildlife, remember: AVOID • RECORD • REPORT

📍 Record the exact location and what you observed
📞 Report it to Agriculture Victoria online or call the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline: 1800 675 888

🚨 If your pet eats a dead bird: keep them away from any remaining carcass and contact your nearest emergency animal hospital for advice.

🐔 If you keep backyard chickens, reduce their contact with wild birds and take steps to prevent the virus spreading between birds.
