Sweet little Red Belly Black Snake from a Pratten st home in Warwick🐍

After spotting a small skin on top of the water meter box out front of the home this guy was found curled up amongst some debris in the box itself. Nice and shiny and ready to face the day this one is likely less than a year old.

Hi everyone! Just a heads up on an odd situation. It's been bought to my attention that another snake catcher has recently changed their name to the same as me, using a southern downs snake catcher logo and website. This guy has recently moved to the dalveen area last year and began operating under a different name and in the last few months has slowly changed the name to my own for some odd reason. I'd like to point out that at no time have I had any contact with this guy, even tho he is aware of my existence as he has viewed my stories several times, and asked fellow members of a wildlife care group I am a part of about me. I have been here in Warwick since 2022 using the name Southern Downs Snake Catchers.

This guy charges ridiculous pricing as seen in the post, and using the name of an established business to charge those prices I don't think is the right thing to do.

I am in no way affiliated with this man, his company or his prices and wish to make that clear.

Thank you
Anthony Adams

Awesome Eastern Brown from an East st home in Warwick🐍

Spotted by the callers in their shed, this one took a lot of searching and ended up in a space barely bigger than the snake, under a piece of wood laying on part of the shed frame. They can and will get themselves into some of the smallest places they can find when they feel threatened, and often disappear once what they think is the threat has gone. This one saw a person and did what it could to get away and hide.

Calls have dropped right down now as expected for this time of year, and not likely to get daily or even weekly calls again til spring. While it's still possible to come across the odd snake or 2 in winter it's not likely, but still keep an eye out as it does happen.

Nice change from the usual venomous critters, this one was curled up high in a roller door and didn't want to come out. Non venomous but lots of teeth

Skinny Red Belly from a Verney drive home in Warwick🐍 spotted by the callers trying to eat a frog amongst their plants after they came home from shopping

This one spat the frog as I grabbed it and the frog hopped away, so best of luck to him but I don't know if it will be a good outcome. The Red Belly itself was also quite skinny and looked like it could definitely do with a feed, with no rain for a while things start to suffer.

Dangerously venomous

Tiny baby Red Belly from inside a Robinson rd home in Warwick🐍

Unsure how it got inside but it's no surprise, a snake this size needs only a very small gap to find a way in. Only a few weeks old max at this size and new to exploring the world. The Red Belly isn't an egg layer like most snakes, they give birth to live young and can have up to 40 at a time, although with a high fatality rate not many will ever make it to adulthood.

Dangerously venomous even at this size.

Healthy Eastern Brown from a Chant Dr yard in Warwick🐍

Spotted by the callers in the backyard under some pipes, this one was still there when I got there. It did all the usual snakey things trying to get away from me and after a bit of chasey around a water tank that was up against a fence I got it as it tried disappearing into a retaining wall. Fairly large snake and in really good condition.

Dangerously venomous with the potential to deliver a fatal bite to people and pets

Awesome little Spotted Black hatchling from a Washpool road home🐍

Likely only a few weeks old this one was spotted after dark by the callers as it disappeared into a linen cupboard in their hallway. After trying to find it themselves it was nowhere to be seen, and I was called to search the cupboard and adjoining rooms with no sign of the little snake. It was then I had a quick look at some bags that were in the cupboard that the callers had taken outside to search, and here he was curled up in a folded over seam of a backpack.

This time of year I get more calls for hatchies than adults, and being just as venomous as a larger snake and much smaller the jobs can get harder, it's not as easy to find something this size in a room or garden as it is to find a 5 foot long snake.

Dangerously venomous but extremely cute

Cheeky Blue Tongue Skink from under the blanket in a Warwick motel recently🦖

Called for this one about 7:30 at night, the callers saw movement in an unused bed and decided to call rather than risk it on their own. Unsure how a blue tongue managed to climb the steep smooth sides of the bed and get under the covers, possibly a prank from someone who stayed the night before🦖

Safely relocated to a nice garden

Nice Eastern Brown from inside a Clifton home🐍

Spotted by the callers in their kitchen they watched as it went under the stove and didn't take their eyes off the area until I got there. This is a great outcome as often when a snake sees us they will disappear into the first hiding place they find, and once we leave the area they can quickly leave too once what they think is a threat has gone. It can be very difficult to find a snake inside when we have no idea where it could be.

Dangerously venomous with the potential to deliver a fatal bite to people and pets
