Given two of the lovely chocolate girls featured below, live at home with me, it’s hard not to admit I’m a little partial to chocolate. 🥰 I do love many and varying colour types, but chocolate was definitely my OG favourite!

Chocolate Australian Labradoodles have a habit of making people stop mid-sentence and say, “LOOK AT THAT COLOUR.”
And we get it.
But besides looking suspiciously like something you’d find in the dessert cabinet, there are a few particularly fun things about being Team Chocolate…
🤎 They’re basically mood rings with paws.
Chocolate coats can look completely different depending on the light. Deep cocoa indoors, warm chestnut in the sunshine, with coppery or caramel highlights suddenly appearing when you least expect them.
☀️ Sunshine unlocks their secret colours.
Get a chocolate Labradoodle into golden-hour light and suddenly there are shades hiding in that coat you swear weren’t there five minutes ago.
🐻 They have serious teddy-bear credentials.
There’s something about a fluffy chocolate fleece coat, brown nose and big brown eyes that makes the teddy-bear resemblance particularly convincing.
🍫 No two chocolates are quite the same.
Dark chocolate, cocoa, mocha, milk chocolate, café latte… even dogs that start at a similar shade can develop their own individual colouring as they mature.
🤎 Their brown noses deserve their own appreciation society.
Seriously. A big soft chocolate nose surrounded by a fluffy beard? Ridiculous.
👀 Chocolate coats make lighter eyes POP.
Hazel, amber and lighter brown eyes can look incredible surrounded by all that rich chocolate fleece.
✨ Their coat can tell a story as they grow.
Some chocolates retain their rich depth while others gradually lighten or develop beautiful variations through their coat. Watching that colour evolve from puppy to adult can be part of the fun.
🍩 They come pre-equipped with food nicknames.
Cocoa. Mocha. Milo. Brownie. Truffle. Nutella. Cadbury. Espresso.
Frankly, naming the puppy could make you hungry.
And finally…
🚨 They are the only chocolate you should freely overindulge in. 😂
