Today we are posting something totally NON horse related… and we couldn’t be prouder. ❤️🏉

Today is about celebrating our amazing Head Groom, the glue to our barn and someone who has become such an important part of the SLH family - Paityn.

Because apparently running our barn, riding horses and keeping all of us organised isn’t enough… she also happens to be a pretty bloody talented footballer! 😂

Paityn has been recognised amongst Regional Victoria’s best women’s AFL footballers, and this is one achievement we simply couldn’t let pass without making a huge fuss about her.

Anyone who knows Paityn knows just how humble she is. She doesn’t look for recognition, she doesn’t sing her own praises and she certainly won’t tell you how good she is at something. She just quietly puts her head down, works incredibly hard and gives absolutely everything she has to whatever she takes on.

And that makes achievements like this even more special.

We have had the absolute privilege of watching this young woman grow in so many areas of her life.

She first came into our barn as a part time stable hand and today she runs it. The responsibility she has taken on and the person she has grown into along the way makes us enormously proud.

Then there is her riding. ❤️🐴

The rider Paityn is today compared to the girl who first walked through our gates is almost unrecognisable. Her confidence, feel and ability have come such a long way, and she has worked incredibly hard for every bit of that progress.

But today, the horses can take a back seat. 😂

Today we celebrate the footballer. 🏉

Paityn, to be recognised amongst some of the best women’s AFL footballers in Regional Victoria is an incredible achievement and one you should be enormously proud of.

We certainly are. 🎊🎉🍾

But even more than the footballer, rider or Head Groom, we’re proud of you.

Somewhere along the way you became far more than someone who works for us. You became part of our lives, part of our family and someone we genuinely couldn’t imagine SLH without.

We are so incredibly grateful that life brought you through our barn doors, and watching you continue to grow, succeed and chase the things you love is pretty bloody special.

Congratulations Paityn. ❤️🏉

Well… Boneo Park, you were a BIG one! 😂🐴🏆

8 tests. 4 horses. 1 rider. Each Day. So 16 tests in total!
And one slightly overworked squeaky wheel running around behind the scenes keeping the whole circus moving. 🙋‍♀️😂

Safe to say the 👣 are a little tender today!

But what a weekend we had…

🥇🥈 Gallivant OLD (Gally) owned by Elana Sterley

Gally clearly understood the assignment!
Two super Novice tests, two great scores and a 🥇 & 🥈 to bring home. He was an absolute little superstar and just keeps stepping up every time we take him out.

Then there was Top Note (Casper) owned by Melissa Clayton.

Day 1 Casper took one look around Boneo and thought there was A LOT going on! 😂 Between construction, horses and everything happening around the arenas, his little brain was fairly full.
So Day 1 became less about the scoreboard and more about exposure, stepping up a level and learning that he could still do his job amongst all the chaos. He tried so hard to stay with Chris and there were some really super pieces of work, particularly in his second test.
Day 2… Casper was back! 🙌
Much more settled, much more himself and rewarded with a 🥉 & 4th in his Prelims.
Another outing in the experience bank for this beautiful horse. ❤️

🐧 Florenstan SD (Penguin) owned by Clair Arnold

Our resident Penguin had a beautifully consistent weekend, finishing 🥉 & 4th in his Prelims before putting his big boy pants on and stepping up to Novice, where he finished just outside the placings.
For those who know this horse’s story, you’ll understand why his results only tell a tiny part of it.
He arrived to us a pretty broken and damaged horse. To now see him confidently getting on the truck, going to different venues, competing and shining makes us incredibly proud.
He has taught us one very important rule:
Everything is absolutely fine… provided it is done 🐧 Penguin’s way.
Apparently we work for him now. 😂

And then we have…

🤦‍♀️ Paradise Valley Johnny Depp (Johnny) owned by Lyn Spiers.

Johnny had a very strong theme for the weekend:
“I’ll do it… but I have some conditions.” 😂
Ear bonnet ON.
Actually, ear bonnet OFF.
Bridle numbers on the bridle? Absolutely not.
Saddlecloth please.
Righto Johnny. Whatever keeps you happy mate. 🙈😂
This pony is seriously cool and the work he gives us at home is getting closer and closer to appearing consistently in the competition arena. (We have it in the warm up 🤦🏼‍♀️
For now, we’ll happily take the super work he gives us, laugh at the Johnny moments, and appreciate that those moments are becoming fewer and fewer.

But the absolute highlight of the weekend had to be this one… ❤️

🌟 PRIMROSE COURT ZILLIONAIRE 🌟

THE BIG BOY IS BACK!

After what feels like forever, having our beautiful stallion back down that centreline was pretty bloody special.
He gave Chris some seriously super work. There was a little rust to shake off and stringing everything together inside the white boards resulted in a few expensive mistakes… but he still managed 🥈 in BOTH of his Advanced tests!
There is so much more sitting there and we are just thrilled to have him back out doing his thing. ❤️
Of course, weekends like this simply don’t happen without a village.
A massive thank you to David Shoobridge for warming up the boss and for the coaching, mentorship, guidance and probably most importantly the honesty he continually gives us. We are incredibly grateful.

Then there’s the crew holding the fort at home. ❤️

Knowing Paityn has the barn under control, the horses worked and everything running while we’re away is an enormous comfort. Tamika, Jay and Elouise thank you for jumping in and helping her keep all those wheels turning.

And to our amazing owners thank you for trusting us with your horses and allowing us to be part of their journeys. The ribbons are lovely, but watching these horses develop, gain confidence and become better versions of themselves is the part we really love.

And finally, Case, Arden and Lyn our fabulous competition crew who help make these weekends possible and ensure there is NEVER a shortage of laughs. 😂❤️

This little guy is an absolute legend and is looking for his next best friend due to his owners study commitments.
SLH Don Phillip (Don Phillino)x Richlands Magic (ARP)
DOB: 22/11/2016 Approximately 15.2–15.3hh, this quality gelding is offered for sale due to his owner’s study commitments.
A genuine, fun horse with a wonderful temperament, he has been well exposed and is the type that loves having a job. He has competed in dressage, attended numerous clinics, and has recently started his jumping career. While still green over fences, he is proving to be bold, honest, and thoroughly enjoys it.
Currently training Elementary Dressage, he has established, correct flatwork and is a pleasure to ride. He is a super fun, versatile mount that would suit someone looking to continue progressing in dressage while also enjoying clinics, jumping, and getting out and about.
