Our Kindness Box is such a beautiful reminder of what community is all about 👭👫👭👫 Especially on these rainy, gloomy days, the thoughtfulness behind it makes everything feel a little brighter ✨💛

A huge thank you to our generous members who quietly share from their own orders, adding a little extra for others who may need it.

Two days of gloomy skies and rain for our packing days, but the vibrant colours of fresh produce and the giant family sized pears brought all the sunshine feelings 🌈🥕🥑🍊🍓 🫲 🤯🍐 🫱

Little kids in gumboots wandered in with their mummy's looking for our chickens, who were sensibly taking cover out the back 🐓☔

Our pack days are about so much more than food. It’s showing care to members with sore backs and injured knees, sharing little snippets of our lives, bringing along useful things for others, and checking in on one another 👭👫👭👫👭👫👭👫

What we’re building here is more than a Hub. It’s a lovely little community 💚 I'm happy to be part of it 👍😁

Summer Snow Cold-Pressed Juice 😋👌

Bellevue Orchard Family History

Our family-owned apple orchard, Bellevue Orchard, has supplied fresh apples and pears to markets and grocers around the nation since 1953.
The orchard was originally planted by William E. Lowe in the 1920s, before it was purchased by a steel factory called Die casters sometime during the Second World War.
Their workers would come to the orchard to take in fresh air, pick fruit and enjoy time away from the industrial, grubby surrounds of the factory.
The pickers huts from all those years ago can still be spotted up the back of the orchard and could tell a yarn or two.

Angelo Russo and his brothers purchased Bellevue Orchard in 1953. Angelo’s sons, Robert and Joe, took over the orchard in 1977, and planted newer fruit varieties.
🍏🍎🍐
How the brand Summer Snow was born 👇
It was Australia Day weekend in January 1998 when an almighty hailstorm hit the orchard in the heart of summer.
It changed the course of the business forever.

The torrential hailstorm ripped through the orchard and devastated our crop only days before it was to be harvested. Large hailstones blanketed the orchard like snow.
❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
To come to terms with nature’s twist of fate and inspired by the storm, we decided to install an apple juicing plant and make juice from real fruit!
✨🍏🍹🍎🍹🍐🍹✨
The range includes Pear Juice (to celebrate National Pear Week), as well Pink Lady apple juice and cold-pressed orange juice.
There are also some interesting Sparkling juices 👍😉
There are unique fruit juice varieties like Pink Lady and Granny Smith 😋👌

🍐🍐🍐
Many Australian pear orchards are under real pressure from low consumer awareness and a narrow focus in supermarkets on just one or two familiar varieties.
🍐🍐🍐
When demand drops, farmers are often forced to remove trees and switch to other crops, which puts long-standing orchards, regional jobs and fruit diversity at risk.
🍐🍐🍐
National Pear Week helps shine a spotlight on the incredible range of Australian pears, encourages people to choose seasonal local fruit, and gives growers a fairer chance to keep doing what they do best as they are producing some of the freshest, most underrated fruit in the country.
🍐🍐🍐👍😁
So, this week at Box Divvy, we’re celebrating the full range of Australia’s delicious “Pearsonalities” for National Pear Week from Monday 25–31 May.
✨🍐🍐🍐🎉✨
Discover why supporting Aussie pear growers matters.
Meet Robert Apted, a 4th generation pear farmer whose family has been growing pears since 1912.
From heritage-listed pear trees to multi-tonne harvests, this is a rare glimpse into the families behind our food and the generations of knowledge that keep Australian farming alive.

Back to 1999 Prices 👇
Why Fresh Produce Is So Cheap Right Now 🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅

Fresh produce prices are dropping fast as oversupply collides with slowing consumer demand, leaving farmers under pressure and good food at risk of going to waste.

At Box Divvy, we’re helping move excess produce directly from farms into communities so fresh food gets eaten instead of left behind.
We're reducing waste, supporting growers and passing on savings to Box Divvy members 👍😁

Don’t throw out your cauliflower leaves!
They’re completely edible and actually one of the best bits for reducing food waste and stretching your veggies further.
A few easy ways to use them:
• Roast them alongside the cauliflower until crispy at 200 °C
• Slice finely into soups or stir-fries
• Add to curries or tray bakes
• Chop into fried rice
• Toss through pasta
• Blend into veggie stock paste
• Shred raw into slaws or salads

The tender inner leaves are especially delicious roasted with olive oil, salt and a little parmesan.
One cauliflower = multiple meals if you use the whole thing.
